Wine Cellar Cooling Units

Should you own a decent wine collection or will be starting a collection you’ll want to make sure that you store it adequately. Keeping wine in a warm and dry environment is going to cause the wine to sour and it’ll eventually evaporate. The reason for this is the cork will lose its shape and then the wine will be exposed to oxidation which will give it the sour taste, think cough syrup, and then it will also evaporate just like any liquid that is exposed to heat. This is the reason why it’s so important to make sure that you buy a cooling unit to allow for your favorite vintage years to be able to get that perfect aging.

Suggestions and Considerations
You’ll want to consider the total dimensions of your wine cellar. You can do this simply by multiplying the length, the width and the height in order to determine the total volume of the space you have. If there is not a regular shape to it than you can just round up or make an educated guesstimate. You’ll of course want to make sure you round up instead of rounding down so you have more space instead of not enough should you miscalculate. It’s always better to have a little more than not enough.

Also make the determination on how much power you’ll need from a cooling system in order to make sure you’re maintaining the proper climate in the wine cellar. If you’re wine cellar is already somewhat cool, meaning between about 60-70 degrees Fahrenheit, then you won’t need quite as much cooling power as if you were storing it in another area; such as; one adjacent to the pantry or especially the kitchen.

By using an electric barometer you’re going to want to measure the ambient humidity that is in your wine cellar and doing this will give you a pretty close to completely accurate reading of the humidity levels. You’re going to be using this to know how much humidity you’re going to need to have your cooling system add to the atmosphere in order to make sure the wine has full protection.

Invest In Your Wine
You’re going to want to invest in your wine cellar just like you’re making the investment in your wine. You’ll want to look at a cooling system that can be installed in another location rather than just the wine cellar itself. You’ll want it to be able to be installed about 30-50 feet away in order to maintain that quiet and chic atmosphere you want in a wine cellar.

Do some shopping around online in order to do some pricing. You’ll be able to make the price ranges that you’re looking at work to make sure you can estimate the total amount of costs you’re looking at. You’ll also be able to use these to work with a contractor that can do the cooling system installation for you. Make sure you do take the time to look around at more than just a couple of sites as there are a lot of deals out there if you find them.
