What Song Would Best Describe Who You Are Right Now?

“Music expresses that which cannot be put into words and cannot remain silent.” – Victor Hugo

Carrie says: The song that would best describe me right now would be The Sound Of Silence by Simon & Garfunkel. I am welcoming more silence into my life, observing and listening to its voice, and life is offering wonderful opportunities and lessons in return.
Jessica says: Now more than ever, Joyful Girl by Ani DiFranco. The entire song feels immensely personal to me, but I’ve always loved the lines “I do it for the joy it brings/ because I’m a joyful girl / because the world owes me nothing/ and we owe each other the world“.

It's a New Day by Will.I.Am. Not only because of next week's inauguration of Barack Obama as the President of the United States, who's election inspired the song, but because the message and beat fits with my current state of mind. Postive, upbeat and fun (with a nod to historical realities)!

“Miss Independent” – NOT the Kelly Clarkson one, but the one by Ne-Yo, I believe.
It just reflects how I feel about my life, that it's MY own even though I share it with my boyfriend, I don't feel a dependence at all. It also reflects how I feel in my career right now. My internship's going well and I'm being proactive.
I walk like the boss, and talk like the boss

“Let's get ex-cit-ed” — don't know who sings it — may not even be the title, but starting art classes for the first time, visiting old friends this weekend, gorgeous California weather,… “Let's get ex-cit-ed!”

Ooh! Good question! For me, right now, it's all about India Arie's “Beautiful Flower”
This is a song for every girl who's
Ever been through something she thought
she couldn't make it through
I sing these words because
I was that girl too
Wanting something better than this
But who do I turn to
Now we're moving from the darkness
into the light
This is the defining moment of our lives
'Cause you're beautiful like a flower
More valuable than a diamond
You are powerful like a fire
You can heal the world with your mind
There is nothing in the world that you cannot do
When you believe in you, who are beautiful
Yeah, you, who are brilliant
Yeah, you, who are powerful
Yeah, you, who are resilient

Brass in Pocket by the Pretenders:
'Cause I'm gonna make you see
There's nobody else here
No one like me
I'm special, so special
I've gotta have some of your attention give it to me

This is the greatest song, and you know what? It's all about putting myself out there, as the greatest lessons learned are from my mistakes!!! YEAH!
You Live, You Learn – Alanis Morisette
I recommend getting your heart trampled on to anyone
I recommend walking around naked in your living room
Swallow it down (what a jagged little pill)
It feels so good (swimming in your stomach)
Wait until the dust settles
You live you learn
You love you learn
You cry you learn
You lose you learn
You bleed you learn
You scream you learn
I recommend biting off more then you can chew to anyone
I certainly do
I recommend sticking your foot in your mouth at any time
Feel free
Throw it down (the caution blocks you from the wind)
Hold it up (to the rays)
You wait and see when the smoke clears
You live you learn
You love you learn
You cry you learn
You lose you learn
You bleed you learn
You scream you learn
Wear it out (the way a three-year-old would do)
Melt it down (you're gonna have to eventually anyway)
The fire trucks are coming up around the bend
You live you learn
You love you learn
You cry you learn
You lose you learn
You bleed you learn
You scream you learn
You grieve you learn
You choke you learn
You laugh you learn
You choose you learn
You pray you learn
You ask you learn
You live you learn

I'm Movin On by Rascal Flats. I have gone through a lot of changes in my life over the last ten years. I can leave behind those things that were not good for me and look forward to my life. I live in a town where I never imagined myself. I was sad about wasting time, but now I know that I can live each day and have joy and peace.
