What kind of award would you like to win?
Daily | October 3rd, 2008
Come on, you’d love the glory…you would so deserve the glory, go ahead, dream of some glory…

Carrie says: I’d love to win a TED Prize, Technology, Entertainment, Design. The TED Prize is a way of taking the inspiration, ideas and resources that are generated at TED and using them to make a difference. You receive a prize of $100,000 but the the real prize is that you are granted a WISH. A wish to change the world.

Danielle says: A Nobel Peace Prize and all that implies would be amazing. But really, I’d love an Oscar for Best Documentary. Way better after-parties at the Oscars. The copyright of the article What kind of award would you like to win? in Daily is owned by Carrieanddanielle.com. Oh this is an easy one! I would like to win an Academy Award for Best Original Screenplay. I have been practising the speech for many years, I also already bought the dress, a John Galliano simple-and-stylish black number, even though I will need a boob job to ensure I can go bra-less as the dress commands. I'll book the appointment once I get the nomination.

The one and in fact the only one that matters would be after I had died to be told I had been fully and completely me and that the world was a better place because of that fact.
I would be weraring a low cut coral pink top, coral pink lippy that matched, a long aqua crushed velvet coat with a shawl collar, elegant loose cut evening trousers in donkey brown, very high heeled boots in donkey brown, a clutch evening purse in a soft gold color. Rings:1 aquamarine stone 2 SSring 3 wedding ring, large pearl earrings and a long pearl necklace that hung low nearly to the neckline of the top.
I would be trailing in the air behind me some Yosh Yan perfume smelling of jasmine, violets, lily of the valley, lilac and roses and a rare wood that I don't know the name of yet.
I hope Kat the Drumming Diva would be there to seranade me as I recieved the prize. something with a smoky rhythm that told everyone in the room there was going to be a good party to celebrate. .

The Rome Prize! I would want to be awarded a prize that put me with other thinkers and doers and see what we come up with individually and collectively.
The American Academy in Rome is a center that sustains independent artistic pursuits and humanistic studies. The Rome Prize is awarded to 15 emerging artists and 15 scholars. The Rome Prize winners, a core residential community of up to 100 people at any given time, are at the center of a multi-disciplinary environment, where artists and scholars are encouraged to work collegially within and across disciplines.

Actually, I would be honored to receive any award that would recognize me among my peers. The thing is I would like to be recognized for achievements that impacted in a positive way the welfare of the world's community.
October 3rd, 2008 at 8:05 am
There should be!!! I'll give to you, how's that!
Lilly
October 3rd, 2008 at 8:09 am
Oh yes, very easy. The Pulitzer Prize for Poetry, and the Nobel for Literature would not be too shabby either.
Though in my alternate life in which I took the scientific path, I would have wanted the Nobel in Physics.
My first time to comment here, and I just wanted to say thanks for such a lovely pop of daily inspiration and opportunity to reflect.
October 3rd, 2008 at 8:12 am
Well, when I'm 70, I'd like to be talking about what it takes to overcoming fear and living your dreams to1,000 people! I've had the opportunity already (4 people…hey it's a start) and will be doing it again hopefully to more than 4, but that's okay, as long as I'm take that step towards my goal. I think it's important to hear that fear is usually the beginning of dreams coming true.
Thanks,
Lilly with Flair
October 3rd, 2008 at 8:26 am
Welcome, Ginger! Maybe we could share that Nobel some day…
October 3rd, 2008 at 8:29 am
I know Ashoka well. Very cool.
October 3rd, 2008 at 8:39 am
Ah yes but light springs wear it best of all. I realy would love to hear those drums one day. Maybe at the first SS international gathering

October 3rd, 2008 at 8:48 am
A column in one of Oprah's magazines would feel like an award! And while I'm dreaming big, how 'bout a Talk of the Town gig at the New Yorker!?
October 3rd, 2008 at 9:24 am
I think it would be fun to win something for which someone else secretly nominated me. I've competed for awards before, and perhaps even won a couple, and there was a sense of anticipation attached to the experience, which is all well and good, but maybe a different way would be fun.
October 3rd, 2008 at 9:33 am
I'm not at all interested in awards. I've won a few, and really at the end of the day, they just sit on the shelf. What I'd like to earn is the respect of my daughter.
October 3rd, 2008 at 10:01 am
Easy! I want to win an award for being a kind person.
October 3rd, 2008 at 10:01 am
“Thou Shalt Fly Without Wings” – I am going to have that made into wall art words and put it up somewhere in my writing studio. I love it and so glad you shared it, Karen. Thanks…
October 3rd, 2008 at 10:03 am
Carrie, I love TED. I have two e-mails from that site, waiting for me to open. Always exciting isn't it? With the vision you and Danielle seem to have for this site, you are certainly eligible for the prize. I'll be watching..
October 3rd, 2008 at 10:21 am
My ultimate award would be for writing words that meant something to many..
October 3rd, 2008 at 10:25 am
Hi Ginger, Welcome, and where can we 'read' you?
October 3rd, 2008 at 10:28 am
Have you put a photo of you in the dress and one of an Oscar on a 'vision board' yet? Help us visualize this for you DM
October 3rd, 2008 at 10:29 am
Miss Jennifer, you are so outrageous and need I say it… authentic.
October 3rd, 2008 at 10:34 am
I love how mindful you are about the raising of sons. If more parents made this a focus of parenting, perhaps there would be no need for shelters for our daughters.
Kudos to you and may all the other things you wish for fall into place, effortlessly for you…
October 3rd, 2008 at 10:36 am
What an inspiring award.
October 3rd, 2008 at 10:39 am
Such interesting awards. Love to see a photo of you on your horse!
October 3rd, 2008 at 10:40 am
Does your face light up when your daughter enters the room? If not, that's a good place to start. I wish someone had told me that when I had the chance to make it one my daughters memories of childhood.
I did okay but made mistakes. In the words of Maya Angelou, “When you know better you do better.”
October 3rd, 2008 at 10:40 am
Welcome Ginger.
October 3rd, 2008 at 10:43 am
Fear is usually the beginning of dreams coming true, so true Lilly, thank you.
October 3rd, 2008 at 10:45 am
Thank you Linda for your contribution and never ending support.
October 3rd, 2008 at 10:56 am
Oh I would have to say a TED award too….for what I have yet to know but I love watching those podcasts. Also any sort of Humanitarian award or Entrepreneur award would make pretty darn proud.

Since we're dreaming here, I would be honored to receive the Order Of Canada for contributing to and fostering Canadian culture, nurturing new talent and helping to further establish Canada as a world player when it comes to the arts.
And for the fireplace mantle…I would also like to have an oscar for best lead actress in a foreign film (my feature indy Canadian) and a best screenplay oscar – why not? Make it an efficient night: two birds with one stone.
October 3rd, 2008 at 11:06 am
Believe it or not I was actually nominated for a Governor General's Award for my MA thesis back in 1999. That would have been nice to win, but I think I got booted out very early in the selection process!
October 3rd, 2008 at 11:52 am
Why thank you. Kat and Linda. I am about to have my morning latte and go to bed after my night duty.
And thank you to Carrie and Danielle for your wonerful web site for keeping me stimulated and amused and provoked over the night shift
LOL

I'd like to win Miss Canada, specifically for the bathing suit competition (snort, chuckle). Kidding.
Interestingly, I can't think of an award – which is kind of pathetic. The idea of it also sort of freaks me out – the limelight frightens me just a tad. I swear, these daily Q&A's are a never-ending source of illumination for me…so very, very interesting.
October 3rd, 2008 at 12:36 pm
Thanks Lilly….it means a lot!!!
October 3rd, 2008 at 3:00 pm
No award. I want a simple, abundant life.
October 3rd, 2008 at 4:22 pm
Ellen,
That is truly rewarding all on its own…kudos.
October 3rd, 2008 at 5:17 pm
I would like to identify a compelling need in my community and find such a creative way to rally people around the cause that it would make such a positive impact that I would win a Volunteer of the Year Award. Knowing that I had made a positive change in the lives of others would be enough reward in itself, but the recognition would feel warm and the knowledge that my example was being used to inspire other people to do good would be the icing on the cake.
October 3rd, 2008 at 9:08 pm
Dear MoJo
The one award you can go in for is to be MoJo. The most beautiful and the most wonderful and the most MoJo you can be. Inside and outside. Wholeheartedly MoJo. Teaching Jade to shake hands so well is way more important than Miss Canada
October 3rd, 2008 at 9:27 pm
I broke down my life-long Oscar fantasy, and realized the only thing that was missing in my life was a fabulous evening gown and the permission to say thanks. http://parkbenchdaily.blogspot.com/2008/02/than...
But if you run across one of these with my name on it, call me:
MacArthur Genius Award (http://www.macfound.org/fellows)
…provided the Nobel Peace and Lit prizes are already given to others that year.
October 6th, 2008 at 8:25 am
I'm looking forward to winning the Nobel prize for literature and an Academy Award for best adapted screenplay (adapted from the literature I wrote). Double toast, a thank you speech, a beautiful gown, my husband in a gorgeous suit dancing our lives away…
October 6th, 2008 at 11:03 am
Me too Joe! I hope to be the next Juno, and win my first time out the gate.
