What are you excited about right now?
Daily | September 11th, 2008
Shared excitement makes for really good ju-ju. So step right up and let us know what you’re stoked about.

Carrie says: I am excited about building my life; a family, a healthy body, a new eco house and flourishing business.

Danielle says: Excitement is a big word in our house. We say, “Well that’s exciting…” about everything from croissants and DVDs, to exotic travel plans and major revelations. I’m excited for fall. I’m excited about our up and up website traffic. I’m excited by our new writers coming on board. I’m excited about Aikido starting.

I’m excited that I’ve gotten past my mental blocks (thanks to my style statement) and I’ve launched into my first oil painting portrait! I only have the vaguest idea what I’m doing, but I’m learning heaps as I go along and I’m having fun
September 11th, 2008 at 12:43 am
That I’ve booked my trip to Belize, the cat has stopped chewing the ipod earphones, the bread is rising, I had a sparky date with a guy who doesn’t seem to be an axe-wielding maniac, and that every moment of every day there is something new around me. That the sun’s out (just venturing into spring down here in Australia – and the winter has been loooooong). That my photos are getting better, I have time to write, and can cook for my whole extended family. God, did I mention the sun??? it’s like being reborn.

I’m excited about training for my first trail half marathon, taking hula and surfing lessons, and the possibility of being an extra on “Lost”!
September 11th, 2008 at 1:03 am
I’m a bit like Danielle as I always am excited about something. I’m excited about my business as lots of opportunities open up every day. I’m excited about Spring arriving and all the lovely warm weather we are having now. It’s almost beach weather and that’s exciting. I’m excited about my upcoming weekend that includes a trip to the art gallery to see Picasso and a trip to Seaworld. I’m excited that we just bought tickets for Swan Lake even though it is still 2 months away. There is always something to be excited about if you look for it.
September 11th, 2008 at 1:17 am
I’m excited about the upcoming presidential election. I was very excited to see Senator Obama on Letterman tonight; he was earnest and funny. I am very excited about voting for him and having him become the 44th President of the United States.
September 11th, 2008 at 1:55 am
I’m excited about my gorgeous nephew’s christening this weekend, about going away next weekend with six of my favourite girls in the world, about Thanksgiving in New York and catching up with Caroline (hey missy!).
September 11th, 2008 at 2:00 am
I’m excited about watching my daughters grow everyday, my team of racehorses, and the arrival of Spring here in Australia (so tired of wearing layers). I’m also excited about the painting that my sister and I are going to give my Mum tomorrow for her birthday – I know 100% she’s going to love it! And I’m excited about life, can’t wait to wake up and get going everyday!
September 11th, 2008 at 2:03 am
Yes, the sun! Can’t wait to be able to wear my thongs (flip-flops for the americans), everywhere again!
September 11th, 2008 at 2:36 am
Well I’m excited about seeing all these Australian early bird here on Daily Q & A. Ain’t spring good for the soul.
Also pretty excited to have just celebrated being married 30 years.

Good things come in threes or more:) I am so excited about my article being printed, future jobs, friends, writing, writing, writing, family, new friends, sewing my own clothes, scented candles-especially vanilla, the future–it holds good things,

I’m excited about going back for my MASTER’S DEGREE (will be almost half-way through after this semester!).
Having real two-way CONVERSATIONS with my almost-four-year-old excites and thrills me (who IS this amazing little guy who already has — and talks about — separate experiences, thoughts, and dreams from his parents?).
MY HUSBAND and soulmate excites me.
MY PARENTS still walking the earth with me excites me and fills me with gratitude.
BUSINESS GOALS that will evolve and push and grow me excite me.
Our new CHURCH PASTOR excites me because he’s teaching, reaching, and stretching our collective and individual minds/spirits.
At my core, HOPE excites and sustains and propels me.
And like Danielle, there is much excitement in those more daily happenings too (that can serve to make up the backbone of our lives and, well, my backside as well!): yummy organic BAGELS, a favorite SONG played deafening loud and accompanied by my own voice and body, an extra-good WORKOUT or WALK with the dog …
I’m a firm believer in the power of excitement — our lives should constantly excite us!
September 11th, 2008 at 3:54 am
I am excited by feeling joy for the first time in a long time – for no other reason than i have allowed. I am excited by all the love and support in my life right now. I am excited to step out on faith, believing in my faith and forging ahead to birth my business into the world
September 11th, 2008 at 3:59 am
Is excited always positive energy?
I’m excited about flying back to the states and seeing our families. I’m not sure that Exciting is the right word for the frenzy of activity that planning that trip in a 76 hour period caused.
September 11th, 2008 at 4:09 am
Amen, sister! I’m excited to see how the world transforms its image of America when we have such an inspiring leader at the helm. I’m excited to see how some of America will have to adjust their thinking once he wins.
September 11th, 2008 at 4:10 am
That’s such a wonderful attitude to have – being excited about life is the best way to be.
September 11th, 2008 at 4:14 am
Building a sense of community. Exercising for the first time in years. The view out my window. Water. Writing.
September 11th, 2008 at 4:29 am
Hey YOU missie – lord, New York and Belize with friends from Melbourne and London – does it get more exciting than that????
September 11th, 2008 at 4:33 am
I am very excited about my new business. I have recently received publicity in a local magazine, on an upcomming radio program & on a local tv station…so I am thrilled to feel that growth & movement forward, that is VERY exciting to me. I am simultaneously working on some health goals & am beyond excited that it actually feels good to be in my body once again. I forgot how great it felt to really feel proud of my physical self & really to love what I saw in the mirror. I thought that was gone forever…but now I am wise enough to appreciate & respect my appearance so much more than I did years ago. This time around I will be much more careful how I take care of it.
September 11th, 2008 at 4:45 am
I am pumped about this weekend. I haven’t seen my boyfriend in awhile since he started law school, so I’m really happy we get to spend some quality time together.
I’m excited that I’ve been making time to meditate and I’ve only eaten out once this week, so my body doesn’t hate me right now haha!
I’m also excited about all the walks I’ve been going on – enjoying the coming of fall.
And finally, I feel a hair evolution coming on – so I’m excited to switch it up slightly
September 11th, 2008 at 4:48 am
I’m so very excited about being in Bali for the month of October – it feels like home to me.
I’m super excited to be traveling with a big fat suitcase of blank American Apparel t-shirts that will be hand-painted with my tribal designs in Bali.
Almost complete with my studies and a very cool job waiting for me when I come back and become a travel agent in the film industry – and don’t have to live in LA to do it! Excited and grateful.
September 11th, 2008 at 4:48 am
Totally thrilled by my upcoming agent deal and by the tail-end of my PhD. Everything is changing in my life and even when change is imposed upon us, it is a good thing; I am loving it.
September 11th, 2008 at 4:56 am
I’m excited about all of the new music my husband and I have been discovering this year. I’m most excited right now about politics in America. Excitement because the general interest level seems so palpable and huge. The other side of that coin, though, is an accompanying feeling of dread and worry about how things are going to turn out in November. I’m so curious to know from all of you in Canada, Europe, and Australia, how all of the silliness going on here in the States is playing out in your neck of the woods. It’s got me excited, because I finally feel like I am able to think globally and see the big picture in things like I never was able to when I was a younger.
September 11th, 2008 at 4:57 am
I’m with you! Go Barack Obama!
September 11th, 2008 at 4:58 am
I’m excited about the book I’m working on, about finding my wedding dress yesterday, about getting over this flu bug that’s had me down for a few days, about spending next week doing DIY. Life is about excitement. It serves as a lovely reminder of what it feels like to be alive.
September 11th, 2008 at 5:05 am
I’m excited that I’ve lost almost 15 pounds and I’m on my way to a healthier me.
I’m also excited about some new ideas I have for my craft business and I can’t wait for the workweek to be over so I can work on this new direction.
September 11th, 2008 at 5:06 am
Finding my authentic career path.
I lost my job and I count it as a blessing because now I can start over with passion. I want to be super excited about it but anxiety is rearing its ugly head. I should consider seeing a career counselor because I am without direction.
September 11th, 2008 at 5:07 am
Keep thinking positive, Tammy. In Scotland, people love to speak with me about American politics right now; people stop me on the streets when they hear my accent. There has been a shift in perception here, and that in itself should be celebrated. That said, I’ve received emails from friends all over (14 countries, at last count) who are pleading to their American friends to vote with the world. Its humbling to know that I have a voice and the rest of the world does not.
September 11th, 2008 at 5:08 am
Getting laid off in 2001 was the best thing that ever happened to me. Embrace it, dive into your soul and take this as a sign. Congratulations!
September 11th, 2008 at 5:09 am
I’m excited about being here in London with my wonderful husband!
September 11th, 2008 at 5:10 am

September 11th, 2008 at 5:18 am
Kudos to you for embarking on the half-marathon! It’s an amazing experience.
September 11th, 2008 at 5:38 am
Going to New York City today to catch the end of fashion week and attend a course which will help kick start my decorative pillow & accessory line.
September 11th, 2008 at 5:41 am
honestly, that today is a new day. All we have is now. Yesterday’s now was progress, but I was angry part of the day. Today I get to reassess why I beleived being angry was of value; why I felt all kinds of things and had the thought that go with them, both which were negative. Today, I get to enoy another beautiful sunrise and the cooling morning air with the evidence of autmn just aroudn the corner. Today is one day closer to having mycracked ribs healed. Ya, I’m pretty hexcited about today.
September 11th, 2008 at 6:22 am
BONJOUR MES AMIS!
Wel right now I am excited about the fact that I have managed to keep my six fifteen appointment with my stationary bike at the gym. I am up at five thirty, go bike and head fir work. It’s a great way to start the day. The gym is practically empty and after two weeks of this routine and watching what goes into my mouth I have lost five pounds!!! So I must be doing something right!!

I wrote down a list of 101 things to do in 1001 days. Two of those things were vacations I wanted to take. One was to my parents home town of Maywood, Nebraska. We have a lot of family there and I haven’t seen them in several years. In a few days, my mother, sister and her 5month old daughter and I are all meeting up in Omaha, NE and heading over to Maywood. My mother has a highschool reunion & asked my sister and I if we’d like to go – How cool is that!
The second vacation I wanted to take was to the Isle of Mann. My Dad has made arrangements for the whole family to go there next year. He had no idea I put that on my list
September 11th, 2008 at 6:28 am
Right now I am excited about my husband and I packing our RV and hitting the road for a month. My exciting view out my window at the moment is about 25 seagulls sitting on a hugh rock in the water. Beautiful!
Our economy is bad, we all have problems, etc. so we said “what the hell, let’s have some fun”.
We are having fun! It is exciting!
September 11th, 2008 at 6:32 am
My book arts class. I started attempting to make books on my own using a guide and now being in a class with other people and a really patient instructor is great. I am already looking forward to the next class and can’t wait until I am more proficient, so I can take advantage of the studio hours.
September 11th, 2008 at 6:43 am
Spending the rest of my life with my husband Ryan. Redesigning my Web site. The fact that it’s a cloudy day, today (if it’s at all possible, and I’m here to tell you it is, we get too much sun in Colorado). Watching the joy in my hound dog’s face (and tail!) when she realizes it’s time for a walk. Opening my browser to see what the ladies at 3191 have posted. Learning to enjoy this moment while simultaneously moving ahead into the next stage of my life. A magazine in the mail. Plant possibilities and healing gardens.
…Goodness, making this list feels fabulous. Thanks for the impetus.
September 11th, 2008 at 6:44 am
Monthly dates with my best friends. Dinner. Theatre. Girls’ weekend out of town.
September 11th, 2008 at 6:47 am
I just discovered that what I really, really want is to create a home where I can share joy and beauty with friends and family. After months of vainly attempting to live with a man who really, truly has the world’s most aggressive bachelor genes, I schlepped home my clothes and makeup and grooming goodies and sang the whole way there. Now, back in my little Cape Cod, I’m excited about rediscovering its quiet joys and bringing it back to life under my loving hands. And did I mention I’ll be re-doing the bathroom? Bliss!
September 11th, 2008 at 6:48 am
I am excited about the new life growing inside of me. I am excited about my dreams coming true. Heck, I am excited about morning sickness. Even though to look at me you wouldn’t know it.
September 11th, 2008 at 6:54 am
I am excited to toss my anchor ashore after 3 years of living the life of a nomadic adventuress. To start to create a space that I can call my own, which has light, calmness and comfort.
I am also still quite excited after sipping scotch last night with Benicio Del Toro while he was in town for TIFF. A very charismatic & intriguing man.
September 11th, 2008 at 6:56 am
add me to the Obama camp!
September 11th, 2008 at 7:05 am
I quit my job on Monday and am excited about re-opening my private practice!
I have connected with five old friends from high school this week.
Football season is well under way! (Hey – I’m from the south – football IS our life!) I’m watching the game this Saturday with my best friend who is preparing a KILLER brisket.
I am taking charge of my life again – taking my power back. It feels good. Scary, but good.
September 11th, 2008 at 7:06 am
I am so jealous!
September 11th, 2008 at 7:06 am
Cape Cod is a lovely place. I always feel peaceful when I am there. Enjoy!
September 11th, 2008 at 7:09 am
I was laid off in 2005 – 8 months after leaving my marriage and 3 months after closing my other business. I landed in a job I would never have taken had I not felt desperate – but it has been one of the greatest learning experiences of my life. Now I am leaving that job and reopening my business with a new sense of purpose. Enjoy the process!
September 11th, 2008 at 7:16 am
I’m sorry, I misled you…my house is a Cape Cod house…built in the 50s…it’s a very symmetrical style, with dormers and a two-up-two-down bedroom layout. But I do love the Cape Cod region, too!

I’m excited about the impending arrival of my son, who is due to be born tomorrow! He can join us whenever he is ready, but I am so excited to hold him and share with him all the love and joy and inspiration that has been shared with me in my life.

Right this second? Finding some truly authentic Szechuan food for my brother-in-law who is visiting from Scotland.
September 11th, 2008 at 7:36 am
life! i’ve made some shifts in the way i view time (used to be not enough, never enough) and the way i do my work and life and it feels totally different. i’m less tired and more satisfied. i’m no longer bound by the clock and i’m excited about having all the time in the world. a brand new concept for me.
September 11th, 2008 at 7:37 am
Challenging myself to take risks and stretch myself.
I am excited about breaking through, into new territory.
September 11th, 2008 at 7:38 am
In the past month or so, my whole life has changed. I’m excited about everything!
Except for the job I don’t love but can’t talk myself into leaving just yet. Soon, though. Soon.
September 11th, 2008 at 7:40 am
I am excited that I have finally committed to writing, and that I am doing it first thing in the morning before anything else happens.
September 11th, 2008 at 7:42 am
Well, I am excited to be more actively living in my own truth! I have been frustrated by the levels of unprofessional behavior that I have been experiencing in my job hunting. In particular with two instances. So much so that I decided to communicate my frustration about how these situations were being handled by each of the parties. One instance lost me the opportunity for the job (I anticipated that as a possibility and was fine with that at this point). And the other? It got the ball rolling on updating the website posting and the rest of the candidates, and I have an interview with the director next week (who stated my words and actions as “admirable”).
We’ll see what the final outcome is but it felt enormously wonderful to truly stand up for myself.
And I’m excited to be going to Napa at the end of the month! Fun, fun, fun.
September 11th, 2008 at 7:43 am
After many years of searching for my “art form”, I have found it in the form of digital photography. I cannot explain how excited I am to see my images take shape. Knowing the joy they give me, I can only hope that others will enjoy them as well.
September 11th, 2008 at 7:46 am
My dear Yasmina,
You are in for a great experience and lots of happiness and I wish you and your family the very best of everything. Stock up on sleep!!! lollollollol… And I amsharing your excitement… this is one of those unforgettable moments in life!!!

September 11th, 2008 at 7:51 am
That is awesome! It always seems so liberating when people talk about throwing caution to the wind and going on the road in an RV. I hope that you have a a great time.

President OBAMA…Now THAT’S Exciting!!!!!

September 11th, 2008 at 8:02 am
I am exciting about having given my husband a deadline when I will quit my horrible job and he agreed.
This will come with downsizing of our lifestyle and I am excited about scaling down, living simpler, back-to-the-basics.
I am looking forward to this weekend. I will go to a FreeMeet from Freecycle, where I will purge a lot of my stuff (one step closer to my style statement).
September 11th, 2008 at 8:05 am
Thanks Cindy,
I’m not normally a ‘throw caution to the wind’ person but it sure is fun! I’m seeing and doing things I’ve only dreamed of….
September 11th, 2008 at 8:18 am
I was in Belize a couple of years ago. You must go to Actun Tunichil Muknal Cave – Cayo. It is the most amazing cave tour you will ever take. You walk thru rivers, and you have to swim into the entrance of the cave, climb thru opening and scale some rocks. The grand gallery is breath taking. It is quite the adventure. We stayed in San Ignacio and got the tour from the orginal ATM tour guides. that was my favorite part of my Belize trip. Enjoy!!
September 11th, 2008 at 8:19 am
I am excited about the possibility of a trip to Mexico with a hot, sex and genuine man in the next few months (not set yet but putting it out to the universe that I want it to be!!)
I am excited about a new clinic work space in December that will bring along some positive changes as well as challenges.

September 11th, 2008 at 8:20 am
Add me in and I don’t even get to vote for Senator Obama. Why you might ask innocently? Because I’m a Canadian!
But you can bet there are millions of us with our eyes and ears glued to the television set to find out what happens in your November election.
Now our stupid PM (Prime Minister) just called an election for October 14th just after Canadian Thanksgiving. I believe in voting so I do, but not for him or his party.
GO DEMOCRATS!
September 11th, 2008 at 8:22 am
I’m not feeling very excited at this moment because I’m grieving. But reading many of these posts and seeing/reading your excitement makes me know that one day I will feel excited again! Thanks!
September 11th, 2008 at 8:26 am
I am excited for you! Raising my sons to be great men was more of an accomplishment than any of my advanced degrees. Enjoy every moment: the smell of baby powder, the bonding between mother and baby, and all the firsts.
September 11th, 2008 at 8:26 am
I’m excited about the last third of my life that lies ahead of me. I’m just getting going after years of ‘tick-tock’ world. It’s never to late and I am going to soar.
September 11th, 2008 at 8:38 am
I’m excitedly looking forward to seeing my mom next weekend and helping clean out the second floor of her house. Well, I’m really just excited to see her, but cleaning things out just make you feel so much … lighter and more free. Even if it’s not your stuff. I’m excited that I’m finally making some progress through my own clutter at home…

i’m excited about finally (finally!) having my own (my own!) computer set up at home (at home!)
i’ve always had access to a computer at work, but they seem to want me to spend time … doing that.
so last night i found myself setting up a gmail addy, starting a blog, and having a great time.
there’s so much i want to do; i can’t wait!
i’m going to finally be able to upload my own photos (my own!) from my own camera and… do things with them. i always had to rely on someone else, and always felt so helpless… ‘can you unload my pictures from my camera… for me?’ like the person would look up from what they’re doing and i’d be laying lethargically on the floor, barely able to support the weight of the tiny camera in my hand.
independence.
freedom.
together they will unleash a new wave of creative ME!
yay.
September 11th, 2008 at 10:50 am

September 11th, 2008 at 10:53 am
capoeira rocks. i was at a drum circle in hawaii, this big crazy one, and this guy jumps in the middle all shirtless and muscled up and starts doing this wild acrobatic break-dancing-ish dance and only after did i learn that he was doing capoeira. brilliant. a beautiful martial arts dance. right on.
September 11th, 2008 at 10:53 am
okay i’m completely jealous that you’ll be mortgage free at 37.
September 11th, 2008 at 10:54 am
okay now i’m even more jealous about the houseboat trip in BC.

September 11th, 2008 at 10:57 am
what’s a freemeet from freecycle?
September 11th, 2008 at 11:00 am
time feels … slippery … to me. out of my grasp, just beyond reach. of course i know we can’t control it, but i’m always late for everything. sleeping when i should be awake, buzzing with energy when i should be asleep. other people seem to have figured it out and i can’t. i’m on the outside, looking in.
please share your experiences with getting more of a feeling of control.
September 11th, 2008 at 11:01 am
congratulations on your baby boy!!! coming soon to a mamma that’s YOU!

September 11th, 2008 at 11:02 am
I’m so excited to have come so far since I first answered one of your daily questions (What are you afraid of?)…Acknowledging my fears and beginning to face them has opened up a whole new world. I am back in school (nearly full-time!) and am opening up to my strengths. I feel vivid, vibrant, and radiant, and am re-connecting with my deeply-rooted sense of purpose in life. I’m excited by the warmth I feel within and around me, and the momentum I’m gathering as I allow myself to live my true life.
September 11th, 2008 at 11:03 am
How timely – I’m excited by my very recent, very deliberate decision to grow and expand my business. Up, up and away….
I’m also excited about my upcoming business trip to China and that my youngest son is starting a music therapy group next week to help ease his anxiety (worry dragon be gone!).

September 11th, 2008 at 11:08 am
Thanks for being interested! Seriously, THAT excites me!
I am writing a book on how to lose weight without dieting, though more importantly, make peace with your food, body, style, and life. Basically how to quit chasing your tail and start chasing your dreams instead. How to enjoy the JOURNEY, and not put off your happiness until you lose twenty or fifty pounds. Not believing that your happiness is hidden in the back pocket of size of size 6 jeans that you can’t fit into right now.
Written to inspire women, especially those who want to let go of dieting, binge/emotional eating. Also, should inspire lots of laughing based on my own experiences and journey in taking myself and my weight way too seriously.
My second book is about how to write a book in coffee shops. How to have fun doing it. How to be inspired, write, and enjoy life all at the same time! I had a flash of insight and am really excited about it. I am writing them both at having a ball.
Hooray for your freedom! For creativity, your VERY OWN computer, and the ability to download pics whenever you damn well please!
September 11th, 2008 at 11:11 am
I am excited about the arrival of our new daughter in November, gettng my body back and living a healthier lifestyle.
September 11th, 2008 at 11:19 am

September 11th, 2008 at 11:20 am

September 11th, 2008 at 11:21 am

Ski season! Can’t wait. Would like to fast-forward fall and go directly to the nearest chairlift (unless the sunny days here in Vancouver keep up).
September 11th, 2008 at 11:24 am
I have some of the older pieces up on my “gallery” at http://griffynsnest.blogspot.com
Have unfortunately been lax about photographing and adding the more recent pieces, and putting things up on etsy.
September 11th, 2008 at 11:27 am
Absolutely. I’m excited about the possibility for real change and the hope for mending relationships in the global community. It’s especially important to remember on this 7th anniversary of 9/11.
September 11th, 2008 at 11:28 am

September 11th, 2008 at 11:47 am
Now lets be clear here you could call me Southern Hemisphere but deginitely don’t call me Australian. I a New Zealander. Do Canadians have the same reaction if someone assumes they are from USA!
September 11th, 2008 at 11:50 am
Important Question: does the hairdo match the Style Statement????
September 11th, 2008 at 11:54 am
I love this posting: taking full responsibiltiy for choices we make even difficult ones is character forming. Our characters are not formed by rolling round in perfumed rose petals(tho’ thats a lovely way to pass sometime). The are formed in responding to challenges and making life affirming ethical choices
September 11th, 2008 at 11:58 am
I SO wish I could vote in the USA. Obama all the way.
September 11th, 2008 at 12:01 pm
Hey that excitement doesn’t wear off. Enacting the two words and becoming all you can be is just the biggest widest deepest high
September 11th, 2008 at 12:07 pm
Haha I definitely had that in consideration! (I’m Comfortable Bold).
It’s more manageable…which fits in with my comfortable part of my style statement.
And it’s really blond, and stands out, which helps out with the bold part.
September 11th, 2008 at 12:13 pm
Being with grief is really important. The loss mattered, your heart hurts. Be attentive and mindful of the small everydayness of life. The taste of fresh bread, a friends smile or touch, the sun, a favourite piece of music, a cats purr.
The human heart has the capacity to heal. Here is apoem that someone sent me when I was in grief:
Are we not all woven like bright blossoms
With strands of light onto one flowering wreath-
Those of us who breathe the breath of heaven
And those who breathe the naked air beneath.
So like one unfading cosmic garland,
so firmly ever newly intertwined,
We weave the life web of the seamless garment
of the spirit being of mankind
September 11th, 2008 at 12:16 pm
I’m excited about the weather heading our way this weekend. We live in a high-rise and it’s magical to see a thunderstorm through the windows and from the balcony. And rain always puts me in the mood to nest and bake and it’s been such a long time since I’ve had a chance to get my creative juices flowing in the kitchen.
September 11th, 2008 at 12:18 pm
Tell me more I’m so intrigued
September 11th, 2008 at 12:20 pm
Your response and Sheri’s show me the importance of speaking honestly – saying exactly where I am at this moment in time.
I love the poem. Is there an author. I would like to put it in my piece that I’m writing about Hannah, the little girl who died, the beloved 10 year old daughter of my dearest friend.
Thank you Jennifer.
September 11th, 2008 at 12:20 pm
Yay Love to hear this stuff. I’m not the only person whose life has been turned around by being more attentive to how I dress. Have you got a psecial piece of jewellery yet?
September 11th, 2008 at 12:23 pm
Our renovations finished four years ago and I still wander round my home with a deep gratitude. Its a bit quieter than excitement.
September 11th, 2008 at 12:29 pm
it’s so cool! i know it’s brazilian and an ancient martial art. two or more people do it together and it looks like fighting but very acrobatic and expressive. if you get any chance to see people doing it, i recommend it. i believe it’s mostly men who do it, but more and more women are into it. i think it’s like ancient breakdancing.
September 11th, 2008 at 12:31 pm
LOL! Yeah, when I read this, one part of me feels like I am gloating. But it really is this good right now. I am learning to not be ashamed & cower from the good truth, but celebrate it with the WORLD!
Shout it out: I AM VERY BLESSED!!!!!!!
September 11th, 2008 at 12:34 pm
promoting “In Search of the Miraculous: Healing into Consciousness” and the author’s related work. Consciousness is shifting, and I so love being part of it and being here to witness. woo hoo!
September 11th, 2008 at 12:38 pm
The name of the poem/author is Arvia Mackay Ege and i hope that spelling is correct.
One of the most important and difficult things I did in my life was writing and delivering a eulogy for my friend Kathryn’s son Stephen when he died aged 18 years. When I faltered near to tears his sister Rebekah (then aged 15) came and stood with me in support.
September 11th, 2008 at 12:44 pm
Here is my experience:
I just figured out that schedules and lists do not really work for me. I taped up the clocks I have at home and now go by intuition not hour of the day. I lined up my different projects next to each other and work on whichever one it draws me to. Following my creative urge is more productive for me than following my to-do list where I just idle around and think about what I’d rather be doing.
I do most of my work at night and sleep during the morning.
Note that this currently only works on the weekends in my free time, not during work. But then I also made a decision about my job as you see in my post below.
Another good think for balance is: eating better. When your blood sugar is balanced, you feel more “even” throughout the day.
And remembering that some things are not problems but a priviledge. Instead of stressing about finding time to go to school and studying, I am priviledged that I have the opportunity to do so. (Just have to remind myself sometimes.) That way I don’t feel that I am loosing time, but fully can enjoy the journey.
September 11th, 2008 at 12:48 pm
Freecycle are local yahoo groups. You can post and request anything (e.g. household items) for free. The NYC group is organizing a FreeMeet, where people can come to one location and bring whatever they want to get rid off and pick up whatever they want. Great way to keep things out of the landfills.
September 11th, 2008 at 12:56 pm
That sounds like a really interesting book. Let us know when it is finished.
September 11th, 2008 at 1:27 pm

Thanks, Hadley! Many discouraged me from taking action but it felt like the important thing to do. And, the result is that I never knew one could feel this proud of themselves. I am a happy camper today
Thanks for the encouragement!
September 11th, 2008 at 2:12 pm
Our Halloween party. It’s become legendary. I’m excited about crafting large scale with my sweetheart, about dressing as a “pair” for the first time with him, about out-doing ourselves once again and creating an original magical atmosphere where our friends can explore sides of themselves usually left in the back of the closet.
September 11th, 2008 at 2:14 pm
I can’t wait for it to be done! I noticed that you, too, just celebrated your 30th anniversary. Ours was Tuesday. Congratulations! Where did the years go?
September 11th, 2008 at 2:24 pm
I actually am a career counselor, and one of the questions I usually asks my students and that usually makes the light bulb come on is, ‘If you had $10 million, what would you do with your time (after you finish sipping margaritas on a beach, traveling, etc…)? I find that it usually helps to take money out of the equation so you can really focus on what you are passionate about and what would seem endlessly fun/exciting.
September 11th, 2008 at 2:58 pm
I just have to say that this was a particularly lovely parcitipation today. I look forward to Daily Q&As almost more than I look forward to my morning coffee. I love the community here, and the love deepens daily. Thank you all for making my days shine!
Sending love through the blogosphere,
Traci

The prospect of conducting a full-day etiquette training for Rural Opportunities, Inc. next spring.
September 11th, 2008 at 4:42 pm
I am excited to know that I am experiencing my own journey. Slowly, step by baby steps I am living a balanced and healthy life. I’m trying hard not longing to have the magazine model’s body but the best body I can have. I am excited to think that getting older (50 in a few months) is not as scary as I once thought… I am now in the process of creating a “me” style with a signature that says out to the world “this is who I am and what I stand for”. I know that work came before my family in the past, but now although I still am working, I cut out quality time with my grandchildren to create a loving bond and beautiful memories. I am learning (via a on-line course) a new language (Spanish) so I’ll be able to be trilingual (French, English and hopefully Spanish). So yes I can say life excites me right now!!!
September 11th, 2008 at 4:45 pm
Wow, thankyou, Carrie! Hello from Australia! Q&A always brightens up my mornings…
September 11th, 2008 at 4:46 pm
I’m excited, and nervous, about recovering from long term chronic illness. I can finally get back to study and rebuild my life! Things are looking up.
September 11th, 2008 at 4:48 pm
Wow! I got excited just reading your answer… Sounds like a fantastic book (I sure can relate to it). Keep smiling and keep that energy!!!
Hugs and peace to you.
September 11th, 2008 at 4:51 pm
Not at all. We need to celebrate ourselves. I am totally excited for 5 or 6 pairs of hand-me downs pants (I’m a stickler for these lovingly worn clothing – recycling at its best), that a friend gave me. I just can’t wait to find the perfect blouse, shirt, sweater, whatever to match it and make an outfit out of them!!!
September 11th, 2008 at 5:11 pm
I am excited that the research I am involved in helps my patients to be psoriasis free….the look on their faces when they come in and have clear skin is priceless.
September 11th, 2008 at 5:23 pm
I also wanted to add that I am truly excited for Danielle….when I found out that my high school friend had written a book, and one called Style Statement….well, lets just say, I wasn’t surprised!

September 11th, 2008 at 6:27 pm
I just want to say that I’m really excited and hopeful that I’ll get to meet some other women with Style Statements! Who woulda thought there would be so many Cultivateds out there?
September 11th, 2008 at 6:29 pm
Would you share your Style Statement with us? It sounds grand!
September 11th, 2008 at 6:31 pm
Oh, WOW! Make sure you let us know how it goes!
September 11th, 2008 at 6:31 pm
Haha I’d love to – but I’m not sure how to do that?
September 11th, 2008 at 6:32 pm
Me too! I’m still working on my Second Word…
September 11th, 2008 at 6:58 pm
I am beginning to hope that we can all meet sometime in summer of 2010 in Vancover. The winter there sounds way to cold for me!
Are there ever blogger “conferences” or workshops? this stuff is all very new to me but I too am noticing the organic building of community. Put my name down and I will fly up
September 11th, 2008 at 7:06 pm
Yeah it is so amazing. 30 years. We have had some tough years (they seem to go with house renovations with us) but things have never been as good as they are now. I look at my husband, Bob, and see a man who is more fascinating to me now than he ever was as a younger man. Something about the aging of fine wine comes to mind.
September 11th, 2008 at 7:30 pm
Sure, it was “enduring creative”. The creative part is self-explanatory, but the “enduring” part is what made me switch from watercolour to oil paint – watercolour tends to fade over the years and the paper it’s on can degrade as well, but oils are much more, well, enduring
September 11th, 2008 at 7:32 pm
I’ve been going to the gym – doing ten minutes each on three machines (the bike, the rowing machine, and the treadmill), and then stretching and (my favourite) Shavasana for a few minutes. I feel genuinely blissful afterwards, which was a total shock. I’ve been going almost every day.
It is genuinely exciting.
September 11th, 2008 at 9:41 pm
I’m really feeling the arrival of Spring, its wonderful… the bees are humming, the days are warm and sunny, flowers are blooming, and mangoes are back! Yum!
September 11th, 2008 at 9:44 pm
I really like that. Making your art personal is a sure way to give it depth and make it interesting.
September 11th, 2008 at 10:07 pm
Thank you SO MUCH for the support. Sincerely appreciated!
They are both going to be done in less than a month.
September 11th, 2008 at 10:08 pm
Thank you SO MUCH! They will be done very soon!
September 11th, 2008 at 10:11 pm
I am feeling very blessed to have all this support. I feel you. I am writng it because I feel that so many people will be able to relate to it and see the whole issue in a new light. That is my intent. To change the world for the better.
Thank you for your positivity and encouragement. I could FEEL it!
Peace and hugs to you as well!
September 11th, 2008 at 10:44 pm
Acupuncture is a great way to help the body optimally conceive! It calms the nervous system, encourages blood flow to the reproductive organs, regulates menstrual cycles and can encourage ovulation. It can also can help you throughout pregnancy for a healthy, more comfortable 9 months.
September 11th, 2008 at 11:05 pm
Kristen – can you tell me more? I would love to help someone I love who suffers (I know you’ll understand suffer is not an understatement) from this disease.
September 11th, 2008 at 11:18 pm
Hold on to yer Cultivated pants…we’re launching a re-designed site in a few weeks and there will be a Style Statement forum for all types to talk!

Benicio?! Clutch my bangles…Benicio is on my top, say.. top 12 of hotsy hot hot men. I even love those dark circles under his eyes. Way to manifest a moment with a hunk.
September 12th, 2008 at 4:46 am
That question really does bring the passion to the forefront. Thanks Cindy! I suppose my lack of direction comes from having many interests in the arts field. But photography is my huge love…my camera rarely leaves my hands.
September 12th, 2008 at 6:13 am
You are welcome – I am glad that you found that question helpful. Photography is actually something I want to pursue as well once I get my writing off the ground, but more as a hobby. I have a really good friend that is a photographer, and she is currently struggling with whether she should leave her job and pursue it fulltime. I hope that you go for it now that you have a chance to do what you really want to do – and I hope to see you name in a photography exhibit someday
Good luck!
September 12th, 2008 at 6:19 am
Yeahhhh – that will be so much fun! I would love to meet some more Classic Creatives.
September 12th, 2008 at 7:02 am
I’m excited about getting over to the Alvord Desert – one of my favorite places in Oregon that I have not yet had a chance to see since my return to this region a year ago. I’m looking forward to a long solo drive to get there and the peace and silence I enjoy while I’m there photographing.

It was a rare moment that happened by pure chance and one that I will never forget. I literally bumped into him while he was smoking his cigar with his agent and started to shoot the breeze on Canadian Law & Che Guevera. He is a very real, funny, brooding, intelligent man…and yes incredibly sexy too boot! (sigh)
September 12th, 2008 at 7:20 am
Fantastic! Will do!
September 12th, 2008 at 8:34 am
Thanks for the great reply and I am actually doing acupuncture as my program in wellness. I haven’t conceived yet but am hoping that the work will pay off in the future.
September 12th, 2008 at 8:48 am
thanks ruth and sky!
wise women.
i think i’ve been trying (and failing) to fit in an early bird world, and so i should try to let go of that.
September 12th, 2008 at 11:56 am
I’m excited because my best friend from college, who I haven’t talked to in years, contacted me out of the blue. In college we promised to be in each others’ weddings. I was in hers, nearly 12 years ago. Mine is coming up in less than 3 weeks; she is re-arranging her busy life to be there.
September 12th, 2008 at 12:05 pm
As a dual US-Canadian citizen living in the US, I’m torn; excited about the possibilities that “President Obama” represents, and horrified by what could happen if we fail to elect him. Thanks for your support, neighbors and friends!
September 12th, 2008 at 12:22 pm
Yes…there are many psoriasis studies being done all over the world. Most good dermatologists have knowledge or colleagues who are involved in these. They are of no cost to patients and usually require monthly injections. Let me know if you need any more information…good luck…Kristen

I'm excited that I have found peace in being a stay-at-home mother and homemaker. I am excited that I get to be my son's first teacher. I'm excited that I've decided to follow my heart and be a writer and domestic artist. I'm excited that everyday is full of potential, I'm excited that my happiness depends on my attitude and outlook. I'm excited that I'm leaning to trust my own voice and have confidence in the choices that I've made.

I'm excited about finding excellent writers like Andrea Barrett's. And creating my own work. I'm also excited about new people and the things they have to teach me.

Hola, i’ve been come to your homepage and it looks really great. I’m building a family site and struggling to make it look great. How hard was it to build your site? Could someone like me, a noob do it? I really want to create something like that. Just wanna let you know your blog seem broken when I browse using Safari.
