What about yourself makes you enthusiastic?
The word enthusiasm comes from the Greek words, entheos, which means “to be filled with God.”
Enthusiasm is the older sister of delight. She is damn near boundless. She colours outside of the lines. If you point her in the right direction, she will create masterpieces – and then some more.
The northern lights are the sky’s way of being enthusiastic – the night sky celebrating it’s self. “I’m here, I’m immense, I’m beautiful, and I’m digging myself so much that I’m bursting with colour.”
Kids are Enthusiasm Super Heroes. “I’m here! I’m relatively new at this! Let’s party!”
What makes stars shine (well, phosphorous gases), but human Stars, the people you remember, the irresistible ones? Enthusiasm! Without it, we make half-hearted choices. We plod along when we could be soaring.
Most of us have something we can be enthusiastic ABOUT. But what if you turned that enthusiasm inward and got stoked about your personal qualities? What if you got enthusiastic about your own brilliance, uniqueness, values, and talents?
When we get enthusiastic about our own truth and goodness, we simple shine. And that light casts itself on the best choices to make. It lights the way to our own fulfillment, and we can make out the difference between life-affirming commitments and unconscious obligations. Like all good cheer leaders, we will stand out in the crowd. And even in the dark, we will be bursting with colour.
