A cute idea that not many people think of is a “date night” package. Get creative–because newlyweds might not be. As soon as a couple gets married, all the fun of being in love and carefree drifts away. Remind them what brought them together. Package movie tickets, gift cards for restaurants or maybe even a prepaid flower delivery–ensure every facet of their date night is taken care of so that they can feel like they’re dating again.

New couples that celebrate events would be thrilled to have their own set of ornaments and trimmings for their first holiday together. Budgets, work and just the sheer fact that it’s their first holiday season together may overwhelm them. Also, their parents have been running he holidays for years, they likely don’t have any of that. A complete set, including lights and other accessories, would be a holiday dream gift that they’d never expect. If the couple has pets, be sure not to pack foil tinsel, as that can be toxic to the pet if swallowed.

Know the family well? Contact your friend’s families and compile recipes (asking nicely!) and type them up using a desktop publishing program. After you have prepared each page, print up the cookbook for the bride and groom using services like CafePress or Lulu. It is surely a gift they will treasure for years to come… and you may want to print a second copy for yourself!
