Understanding Loss Of Libido
The most common problem affecting a vast majority of men today, is a loss of libido. It is also the most embarrassing thing to talk about. A loss of libido is like the most personal failure a man can endure. It is a slap in the face and is seen by him as the worst thing that could ever happen to him. There are many reasons why a man can lose his sex drive and have a decreased libido. A low libido could be the result of many psychological and physical reasons.
It is very important to get to the cause of this problem. It is important in identifying the reasons for a low libido and to investigate and figure out when the man started to suffer from a decreased libido. This is not a problem that happens overnight and the symptoms are apparent over a period of time. It works like a slow poison. A diminishing sex drive leads to a low libido and a decreased libido leads to impotence. The signs are subtle, but are there to see. Most of the time, the biggest problem is a reluctance to accept the fact that there is a problem. If not addressed in time, this loss of libido can lead to impotence, which can be very hard to treat.
Stress is the major cause of a lack of sex drive. The hectic pace of every day life and all the stress that comes with it, has led to a rapid decline in libido in many men. Stress comes in all forms and shapes. Stress at work, with increased work loads and increased pressures, tighter deadlines, fluctuating markets and fortunes and an increasingly competitive rat race. Stress at home, with pressures to cater to every family member’s needs, pressures to plan ahead, pressures of finances. Overcoming this stress is absolutely critical to dealing with the problem of a loss of libido.
Habits like drinking excessively or smoking a lot can lead to a damaged body which does not respond well to feelings of intimacy and sex. It is important to give up these habits and get healthier.
Medical conditions like cancer, hypertension and diabetes all diminish libido and sex drive. The medicines taken to combat these illnesses also reduce libido.
Feelings of guilt, anxiety and depression are all negative feelings which do not help in maintaining a good libido. These feelings should be understood and the reasons behind them should be dealt with and sorted out.
Injuries to the body in one form or another also lead to a low libido. Damaged sex organs greatly decrease libido and also lead to impotence.
Impotence is a condition when the penis cannot get an erection, cannot get a complete and hard enough erection or cannot get an erection for any sufficient length of time. While all steps must be taken to deal with a loss of libido, impotence is a medical condition and a doctor must be consulted. It is important for a professional to help with impotence.
