Understanding Bikram Yoga
Bikram Yoga is one of the many styles of Yoga adapted to cater to specific requirements of its audience. Bikram Yoga was created by Bikram Choudhury, born in Calcutta, India in 1946 who founded Bikram’s Yoga College of India in Los Angeles in 1997 and introduced Bikram Yoga, which is named after him. Bikram Yoga consists of 27 Yoga Asanas, including 2 Pranayama exercises, conducted in a very hot room, usually heated to 90-105 degrees F. The 27 Yoga Asanas are performed in a sequence, typically twice and held for a certain amount of time. The Yoga Asanas used in Bikram Yoga include Standing Poses, Twists, Backward Bends and Forward Bends.
