Thank you so much for writing this. I actually wanted to be a teacher but when I graduated from High School and started University I realized that there was an abundance of teachers and worried about getting a degree where there were no jobs. So I went into accounting instead. It gave me good skills that are always in need but was slowly killing my spirit – and now I'm teaching accounting at a College. I love it! We all need to stop and listen to what the whispering of our souls is – it will take us where we need to go.

I could have written this – it is so much like my own personal story. I too started out teaching, but knew that there was something else I wanted – needed – to do. When I started deep diving into psychological tests, career tests, etc.. it was very hard to decipher. Then Oprah had an article that asked the same question “What did you love to do as a child child?” When I was a child I would write stories, use my imagination to act out what I had written, and absorb t.v., movies, and books. I am now on the path to becoming a screenwriter because I think that my childhood passions will serve me well in this pursuit. Thanks for the reminder that our childhood selves always know exactly what we most need.
