The iPhone HD Coming in the Summer
The new iPhone HD is getting closer to coming out and will tout:
• High-resolution display
• Multitasking made easy
• Custom silicon
John Gruber, the renowned Apple pundit, has talked about and shared some details about the fourth generation iPhone that is supposed to be released sometime around the summer although a specific date hasn’t been released yet.
Gruber is very outspoken and isn’t afraid to share his opinion and that had no change from a recent report from the WSJ (Wall Street Journal).
Those readers that have been watching carefully will remember a report that talked about the assertion that Apple is actually in development of a special CDMA iPhone that will be released for the Verizon network and would be unveiled sometime in the month of September, 2010.
Gruber has basically dismissed the piece by the WSJ as nothing more than an attempt to try to sponge off of on the rumor mill game of the iPhone. In addition to dismissing the WSJ claims. Gruber took to the blog world in his venerable blog, Daring Fireball , in order to list out the key improvements in the hardware that are slated to be for the next generation in the iPhone series, dubbed the iPhone HD.
The features that are going to be with the new iPhone model are going to include a webcam that is front facing in order to videoconference, a pixel count that is 4xs higher than the 3G iPhone models and much, much more. .
There are actually no details that they have in terms of the new iPhone generation that is coming out, nothing:
• Not the 960×640 dual resolution display
• Not the A4 family CPU system on a chip
• Not the additional front facing camera
• Not the 3rd party multitasking capability on the iPhone OS 4
The only one thing that they actually have is the fact that there is going to be a new iPhone out sometime this summer, period, nothing more.
Engadget.com chimed in on the topic putting forth a tip that the iPhone HD is going to actually debut on June, 22nd this summer. This date is actually a week prior to Apple’s annual developer’s conference which looks like it will run between June 28th and July 2nd. This is just a rumor at this time as there are no definitive plans.
The piece by Gruber continues to build on the rumor mill predicting the:
• Multitasking with 3rd party software
• New gestures
• A 5 megapixel camera with an LED flash
• Removable battery
There would be absolutely nothing unusual about the belief that the Apple’s custom silicon is what would power the next generation iPhone. The website geek.com recently made an observation that Jobs himself actually explained that Apple is going to leverage their $278 million PA Semi acquisition in order to start building unique hardware features for their mobile devices. These would be something that their rivals “off the shelf parts” would never be able to match.
With all of the new iPhone rumors coming out I hope that it lives up to the hype. If it does it’s going to be an amazing phone.
