The Goddess Experiment, Day 5: Wonder Woman
Wonder Woman lyrics, by N. Gimbel and C. Fo
Wonder Woman, Wonder Woman.
All the world’s waiting for you / and the power you possess.
Make a hawk a dove, / Stop a war with love,
Make a liar tell the truth.
Wonder Woman, / Get us out from under, Wonder Woman. / All our hopes are pinned on you.
And the magic that you do.
Stop a bullet cold, / Make the Axis fall,
Change their minds, and change the world.
Wonder Woman, Wonder Woman.
You’re a wonder, Wonder Woman.
Wonder Woman was my first image of a kick-butt Goddess. I thought Linda Carter was, like sooo cool in the Wonder Woman series. I marveled at the speed at which her gold cuffs deflected bullets. Mostly, I was amazed that her big boobs stayed in that strapless girdle. My favourite episode was the one where Diana returned home to the island of the Amazons to fill her sisters in on life in the “real world.” I wanted to be there, in the land of the Goddesses.
Mostly I wanted…a Lasso of Truth. When I wanted to get the truth out of someone, I pretended that I’d tied them with that golden rope and had them under the spell. It usually worked.
Today’s realization: Goddesses adore the truth.
. . . . . . . .
What is The Goddess Experiment? I’m wondering what will shift or bloom or go bust in my psyche if I very intentionally envision God in female form. For the next 21 days, including weekends, I’m going to actively re-frame He into She. His Highness into Her Highness. I’m collecting images that speak to me of God-dess.
Please join in. I may post what you send. Just to…see.
