Dreams Come True…Times Two: The AstroTwins Interview

People | August 12th, 2008 No comments

Astro Twins

We first met the Tali Edut (in photo, left) and Ophira Edut (right) through Style Statement sessions. Both based in NYC, Tali’s Style Statement is Creative Harmony, and. Ophira is Sophisticated Discovery. They are a great example of building a thriving business based on what you’re most passionate about.

I subscribe to their Weekly Horoscope, and for those of you who are curious about astrology but don’t know where to start, they have created an “all about” intro to the stars that is a great place to begin, and you can get a free sample chart here.

Their book, The AstroTwins’ Love Zodiac: The Essential Astrology Guide for Women, is a guide to help you demystify and harmonize with your love interest.

The Inspired Interview: Carrie & Danielle talk with The AstroTwins.

What are you incredibly grateful for?
Ophi: Being a twin. I’ve never been lonely; I’ve always had a peer to go through the “cocoon” with. Also, exquisite little moments of love with my husband Jeffrey, my stepdaughter Clementine, and our dachshunds.
Tali:Being a twin tops the list for me also. I’ve always had a partner-in-crime for manifesting creative ideas. That support has made me quite productive and entrepreneurial in this lifetime.

What would you like to revolutionize?
Ophi:
Body image and the beauty standard, to include women of all shapes, cultures and sizes.
Tali: Consumerism. It bugs me to no end how much packaging products are still being sold in. I can just see it all being crunched into a landfill. Also, the ad industry. We’re so trained to think we need this product and that product in order to live a fulfilled life. Yet, those things often create competition and separation between people. I’ve been simplifying my life over the past few years and it feels really light and free.

What are the tools of your trade?
Ophi: Inspiring people and conversations, a Macbook Pro, a Treo cell phone loaded with Palm software that casts astrology charts on the fly.
Tali:Pure human connection, intuition, and a sense of humor…oh yeah, and a library full of motivational/inspirational books when my higher self goes on hiatus.

What do you crave?
Ophi:
Vegan cake and strong coffee. Conscious, self-aware friends who can crack dirty jokes one second and give life-transforming advice in the next breath.

Who do you admire?
Ophi: My mom. At 57, she became a rabbi, a dream she had since age 12. She moved from Detroit to New York City, went to school full-time, realized her vision, and had more of a life than I did!

Just by virtue of being you, what are you teaching?
Ophi: That even if your mother told you to be a doctor or a lawyer (fortunately, ours didn’t), you can still succeed in the most outrageous career of your own design or invention. Being an entrepreneur is really more about spirit rather than what you’re selling. If the passion is there, and your idea resonates deeply with people’s souls, you’ll connect with an audience who wants what you’ve got!

Tali: That it IS possible to make a living doing something that you love. That owning and embracing your so-called flaws can be a very powerful thing.
