Sweet and sour and the two different flavours of any thing edible. Sweetness is derived from various ingredients, among which the most popular one is sugar. It is actually a form of carbohydrate. Sugar is an integral part of human food. It is used to make almost any food item sweet. There are various types of sugar but the most commonly used and seen one is the white sugar. It is a crystalline form of the juice got from the sugarcane plant. It has to undergo some processes before it becomes sugar. Sugar nutrition is very important for our body. The blood glucose levels are maintained effectively by the consumption of sugar in the food. There are some problems too which are associated with sugar.

Sugar is consumed in large quantities in various countries. It is not freely available everywhere. The sugarcane plant is not a very easy plant to grow and takes a long time to become ripe. But after it is processed it demands a very high price in the retail markets in most economies. It is consumed per capita the highest in Brazil and India is has the highest consumption as a country. In these countries sugar is a very important part of the diet. Many cannot think of a life without sugar and sugar deprived diets can lead to serious emotional problems too. Sugar is called sucrose chemically and it is a carbohydrate. Hence we can understand its significance on the diet. Sucrose is found in many fruits naturally and this is what gives them their distinctive sweet taste. Sugar has a very strong influence on the body, and diet and nutrition of many people. Sometimes when a person is dehydrated, water mixed with sugar is given. It helps in better absorption of water and also a good source of energy. The diet and nutrition is so much influenced that the countries where sugar is used in large quantities show an increased incidence of type 2 diabetes and tooth decay.

This is because sugar controls the blood glucose levels. The sucrose is converted into glucose by the cells with the help of certain cells. Sometimes the body will become sucrose intolerable. This is called diabetes. While such people are told to avoid sugar completely and to eat healthy, it is a very difficult task, since their diet is very much dependant on it. Sugar is used to flavour about every dish which is sweet. It is mostly used to flavour beverages. When we are asked to eat healthy we will surely be recommended to reduce the intake of sugar. This is very important. Sugar should not be taken in excess amounts. The dependence on caffeine is accelerated by the addition of sugar. This gives the coffee better taste, as it is very difficult to get used to black coffee due to its pungent taste and smell. Hence we can see the very strong influence of sugar on our diets. It is very important to have a very good control on its intake.
