Starting a caregiver business is something that should be done by someone that is entrepreneurial in spirit, a quick learner or already experienced in business matters, compassionate and caring about people and very patient in nature.
Starting this type of business will make the most sense if you’re in an area that has a diverse elderly population. A caregiver is a person that will go to the homes of the very ill and care for them when their families are at work or otherwise unable to care for them completely. The people will usually be the elderly but there are also instances where the caregiver will be taking care of someone with a degenerative disease, some of which can attack at any age.
The job is going to include complete care during the time the family is away or the things that they need help in doing. Some examples are tasks like:

- Conversations
- Bathing

The home health care market is one that is rapidly growing and there are more and more franchise opportunities available. The benefits of franchising are giving potential customers a name that they know and trust as well as help with your marketing and business plan. You will also get the backing of the corporation as they have a vested interest in seeing you succeed.
You will pay a monthly fee and royalty payment for use the name and you should keeping mind that you’re representing the business not yourself.
Background Check
You should do a background check so you can show potential clients that you’re someone that they can instill their trust in as you’ll be caring not only for their loved one but be in and out of their home most often without any supervision.
Certifications
You should also look into getting your first aid and CPR certifications. Should something go wrong you’re going to be considered the first responder and you should be certified in both of these. Also they are very marketable options.
Other Considerations and Marketing
You’ll want to contact your local offices and make sure of any state regulations that you will have to company with and if you need any other permits of a business license.
After you’ve done that it’s time to market yourself in your community; however, due to the nature of the business you should only have one client per person per time.
