Sophisticated Nostalgic: Style Statement Praise
Darling Carrie & Danielle:
I just finished the book last night (I’ve been pegging away at it for a couple of weeks) and I am a dyed-in-the-wool “Sophisticated Nostalgic.” Everything about me, from the tailored vintage clothes (in which I present Silver Screen movies at a local historic cinema) to my “rapacious intellect” (statement of a former lover) screams this Style Statement.
Can you tell I’m tickled? I surely am!
When I got to that answer, my smile just beamed and I thought “Bingo!” Your insightful findings about Sophisticates (how curious and intricate and cosmopolitan and citified we are) hit the mark exactly.
For years, I’ve been trying to juxtapose my passion for vintage fashion with my bookish ways, my love of Victorian houses with my NYC comfort zone, and now, everything just plunked into place. Huzzah (see, there’s that mythic/storybook Nostalgia thing kicking in!).
I’m looking forward to seeing just how many new ways I can apply this! You have a marvelous book and concept and I wish you all the best in your futures (which I’m sure will be bright!).
Many virtual hugs from a deliriously happy Sophisticated Nostalgic,
Karen

I’m so glad to hear from another “nostalgic”. I haven’t worked out my first word yet (though I’m thinking “playful”), but nostalgic’s definitely my second. Congratulations!
