Sophisticated Dreaming: How To Make Your Wishes Real

Spirituality | July 23rd, 2008 by Danielle LaPorte

The Dream Fairy loves her job. She is willing to work overtime to conspire for your success. You can access Dream Fairy in one of two ways: Just dial her up like you would when you pray or chat with your best friend (the cosmic lines are always open and it’s toll free so wish on as long as you want.) It doesn’t matter if you’re from Nowheresville and see yourself on Broadway, or if you just bought your first pair of runners and you plan to do a Marathon a year from now. Dream Fairy adores audacity. She especially loves details. So speak up and be specific. She’s listening with her whole heart.

The divine DF spends most of her time hanging out with the Dream Do’ers - the people who are actualizing their wishes; those courageous, smart cookies who are taking the grace of their aspirations and getting gritty with reality.

Which brings us to our Really Important Point about making your dreams come true:

If you want to make things happens, hang out with people who are making things happen.Tell the Dream Do’ers what your dreams are. It doesn’t matter if your dream is to be a real estate mogul and they’re in the fashion business. Or if you have a staff of one (and it’s your sister) and you intend to mentor entrepreneurs someday. Dream Do’ers speak Make-It-Real lingo.

Successful people are in the business of making things happen and that kind of moxy is cross- disciplinary. They’ve wrestled with the odds, they’ve put their money where their mouth is. So speak up. As you’re voicing your wishes, some of their helpful realizations (or connections) may rub off on you. And as she eavesdrops in, the Dream Fairy will be smiling, and revving up her magic wand.

Sophisticated Fresh, aka Tanya from Vancouver, reminded us of the power of voicing your dreams. When you declare a hope, providence - and good girlfriends, best wishes and new connections - begin to cheer, Yes! Good wishes beget good wishes.

Tanya’s Style Statement - Sophisticated Fresh from Carrie and Danielle on Vimeo.

Hi Carrie & Danielle,

I’ve been reading my Style Statement book and refocusing on what Sophisticated Fresh means to me and have come to a conclusion: it’s not sophisticated to hold back your true vision! After participating in your video production, I realized I had not discussed the thing that is my biggest priority at the moment… You both know that I’ve been working on expanding my business, but I didn’t talk about that and more importantly, I didn’t share the ‘why’.

My most important goal for fulfilling my purpose is to create an opportunity for myself to be a leader and a mentor. I think it stems from my father’s career as a high-school principal. I’ve spoken first hand with the board of ed trustees, the teachers, the janitors and the students who tell me they are better people for knowing my father.

Nothing makes me feel more fulfilled than the thought that I may have helped someone else further their career, sort out a problem or just feel better about themselves. I tend not to share this goal because it sounds pretentious and arrogant to me that I assume I have this to offer. When I explained this to my husband, he said something to the effect of this: “well, if that were true, what are Carrie and Danielle doing by writing a book about Style Statement? That’s not presumptuous and arrogant, is it?” Right.

I’m reminded of Wayne Dyer’s book, Manifest Your Destiny that explains how these types of worry are a function of ego and ego is the last thing that should be ruling your dreams and goals.

So, there it is, I shared!

Sincerely,
Tanya

I love the new video component of your blog. I just watched them all with a glass of wine...they are lovely. My husband is addicted to the Tour du France right now and I am catching up on your blog. I was my Innovative mind would find some clarity on what to ask the Dream Fairy for. The Grace part of me keeps chugging along, planning on what to paint for over the bed, what to cook tomorrow, who to write...

Wow, if ever I believe in fate, it just happened! To recap my story, I am a self employed business owner who also works part time 2-3 days a week at an employed job (just for extra $ to help me get my business started) Today I woke up feeling anxious and not well inside... because today is the day I am saying goodbye to my job, so I can focus on what I truly am passionate about and working so hard at, my own business. I woke up thinking about my "Dreams", and about following my heart, yet the anxiety persisted. I turned on my computer and to my happy surprise I saw a notification that popped up onto my screen, about the "dream fairy"- it was just what I needed to get me through this day. Thank you for your video and all your wise messages. And whatever comes I hope your dreams continually come true.

this just happens to be my favorite subject, so thank you for giving us a chance to share. i absolutely agree with you to hang out with "doers" is a key to fulfilling life's big dreams...that's why I started StartupPrincess, I'm so darn inspired by women entrepreneurs, I wanted to hangout with them and be inspired all day...to motivate me into action!

i just wanted to mention that i'm a big fan of vision boards--when you can dream "it" and capture the image/or find a symbol of the image you are aiming to achieve in your life it can be a very powerful reminder of your dreams...love to do this activity as a family too. as we fulfill/create our dreams we write the date and how it manifested on the back specifically... very powerful to see all of the dreams fulfilled by the end of the year, or in our case by Summer! Time to create new boards, new dreams... we save our boards as a dream scrapbook.
