Should I Get A Wine Fridge?

Wine | October 21st, 2009 No comments

By having a wine fridge it will serve to ensure that you’re wine is kept at the temperature it needs to be for keeping the right quality of the wine. Not only does it include the quality of your wine though it will also fix any organizational issues that you might be running into. By picking the right wine fridge you’ll run into a tricky situation sometimes to find everything you want in one; however, there are a lot of options out there and you can find one that will fit your needs.

Evaluations and Considerations
One of the important things to most people is how will the wine cooler fit the aesthetic of the home. One of the top of the line in terms of style is the built in wine cooler. The next in line is the free standing wine cooler and the countertop wine cooler is one additional option. Once you’ve figured out the look there are still a lot more considerations to make.

You’ll want to think about how many bottles you’re going to want to have at any one time. You’ll want to make sure that you buy something that will fit your eventual collection should you not go to that amount immediately. You also don’t want to overbuy if you’re not going to fill it as you’ll save a lot of energy should you only need something smaller.

If you have some friends or know some wine enthusiasts you should ask them if they are happy with the wine fridge that they have are happy with the one that they have, if they’d pick something different or different features and keep all of their comments in mind when you’re picking out your fridge.

You’re going to want to look for a door on the unit that has door that you can’t see through or at least one that is tinted. If you have a completely open unit it will allow a lot of light in which can destroy the integrity of a wine.

You’ll want to also look at your collection and find out how many different wines you have that might need to be kept at different temperatures. If this is the case than you’re going to want to look for a unit that has multiple cooling sections since different wines are going to have different optimal temperatures.

Make sure you count the wine bottles you have or make sure you take into account what you are looking at for your collection. If you’re going to need more space than the standard you should look into a customized unit rather than separate coolers as you’re likely to save more money by doing it that way.

Finally you’re going to want to make sure that you buy a fridge that’s going to be vibration free as vibrations can really affect both the taste and the quality of the wine through disturbing it. This will ensure that your wine maintains its integrity.
