Sell Life Insurnace Policies, Taking The Right Approach
Selling life insurance policies is something that isn’t something that you can walk right into. Being able to make a sale is something that takes a certain kind of person and personality to make sure that they can succeed and provide themselves profitability.
All too often agents are going to try to move into new things and away from what worked for them in the past and this couldn’t be more wrong. If you know what works don’t change it. Other than just sales technique there are other things that should be considered before you even talk to a client.
Decide On Policy Types to Sell
If you’re not already employed or have went through the licensing experience you need to know what type of insurance that you’re going to want to sell. It should be something that you’re going to have a passion for and something that you feel comfortable with.
Knowing ahead of time is going to make you a more successful salesperson and make sure that you go through all the right licensing. If you know you want to sell health and life insurance only you should get your health and life and it would be a waste of time and money to get your providers license to sell auto and homeowners policies.
Current Information
Make sure that you stay current and have all of the most current materials available to you at all time. Things can change at any time and you should make sure you don’t only put the new information in but you take all of the old information out. Crossing the new to the old is the surest way to get in trouble when dealing with your client. It can also make you look unprepared and someone would be less likely to want to buy a policy from you especially if you have to go back to them later and change the quote amount on them.
Know Your Materials
You should have the sales materials handy as a backup or to give a visual to a client but you should make it practice to have all of your materials memorized. It makes you look much more competent and trustworthy as you give the feeling that you’re 100% confident and knowing what you’re saying. Present yourself as an authority.
If you’re not good with memorization you could make a short sales presentation so you have something to look at as a backup. If you’re selling over the phone you should find something that works for you and stay with it without sounding like a robot though. You should also not count on this completely as people are always going to ask questions before you get through everything so you should be prepared and not get tripped up if you aren’t able to flow through everything.
Close the Sale
You have to make sure that you close the sale. With the internet boom there is so much information and quote options available to consumers so you have to be able to let them know why they should purchase from you.
Make sure that you show you’re confident in both yourself and the product that you’re selling. The consumer of today needs that and they need facts and sometimes you have to back off a little and give the certain person time to digest. Consumers like being in the driver’s seat so knowing how to get them to go your way by making them feel that they are in complete control is the best way to close and make your consumer coming back for more.
