Red Wine Glasses
When you’re making the choice of a wine glass picking the right one can really make all of the difference. When you make the trip to the wine rack or the wine cooler to pick out that perfect bottle of wine you’ll need that right wine glass to go together with it. You may be asking yourself what really makes the difference and why does the wine glass really matter? Isn’t a wine glass simply a wine glass?
To keep it simple, the right wine glass is simply everything.
Looking at the types of wine glasses you can put them into one of three categories:
- Full and round for a red wine
- More narrow glass for a white wine
- Flutes for champagne or a sparkling wine
When you chose the right wine glass it’s going to enrich the wines flavor and will also keep it at the right temperature while drinking it. Most experts and wine aficionados will agree that the larger glass with the bowl shape at the bottom. This is the perfect option when you’re serving a red wine.
By having a larger glass the drinker is going to be able to swirl the wine between drinks which will aerate the wine. They also have a very powerful base along with a strong stem which will keep the glass from toppling or accidental spillage.
After being warmed by your hand having a full bowl shape with the wine glass is going to allow the wine to very quickly come back down to room temperature. The reason this will happen is the glass will have a very large surface area. These glasses are more primarily meant and designed specifically for a red wine; however, should you find yourself liking and serving both kinds of wine and do not want to splurge on two sets this is the set you should go with and it can serve a white wine as well.
