Reach out to a Healer

Alternative therapies, Healing, Health & Wellness | January 28th, 2010 No comments

When your soul is troubled and there’s unrest in your mind, do you find your body reacting in strange, unpredictable ways? Does the unrest spread through your mind and body like ripples on the water that you have no control over? Surely you must have realized that it all begins in the mind. When you feel mentally low you become more susceptible to dis-ease in the body. And when you feel the lack of synergy between mind and body, you know that it is time to visit a healer.

Not everybody has the ability to heal, so choose your healer with care. The ideal choice would be a holistic healer who can incorporate different healing techniques that will serve to heal your body, mind and soul. There are many traditional healing techniques that are natural and have their origins in places like Japan, China and India. Many of these techniques involve hands on healing or the ingestion of natural herbal remedies.

The natural remedy therapies include Ayurveda, Unani and Homeopathy. Ayurveda uses a combination of different herbs that are completely natural and free of toxins. They are consumed in pill form or as crushed and powdered roots. Ayurvedic remedies are not very pleasant tasting, however, they make up in efficacy. And the benefits of Ayurveda are long term.

Some healing therapies are based on the premise that we are surrounded by energy that has healing powers. When this healing energy is applied to the body, the healing process takes place. Healing techniques like Reiki and Pranic Healing use healing energy to treat ailments in the body.

Where Reiki is concerned, energy passes through the palms of the healer into the body of the patient. This energy is channelized towards the chakras, or energy centers in the body. There are seven main chakras in the body and each one is related to a specific organ in the body. When the chakra is exposed to the healing energy, the corresponding parts of the body experience healing.

Pranic healing is a form of healing in which energy is applied to the auras surrounding your body. The Pranic healer will first study your aura and identify the parts that are depleted, which indicate disease in the body. The depleted parts of the aura are then exposed to the healing energy. The corresponding parts then receive the healing and begin to recover.

All these are holistic healing practices that treat your mind, body and spirit. Other healing techniques that are considered holistic healing practices include yoga and meditation. These are traditional techniques that have been tried and tested, and validated. Both these practices date back a few centuries and their origins are a matter of legend.

Both yoga and meditation need to be learned. They require a disciplined approach to the practice and advocate severe adherence to age old norms. Meditation is actually an integral part of yoga and the two techniques combined serve to heal you mentally, physically and spiritually. Life long practice ensures a life time of good health.
