Picking A Modest Wedding Dress

There could be a wide array of reasons why you want or need a modest wedding dress:

  • Fit the requirements of your church
  • Feel uncomfortable showing too much
  • Religious reasons
  • Personal preference

A lot of the standard shops are only going to have the more modern look of the low cut or sleeveless. Not to fear though, there are modest yet beautiful wedding dresses out there on the market; you’ll just need the right information on how to find them. You can pull off the modest dress that’s going to not only make you still feel attractive on your big wedding day but also pull off the look with some modest elegancy.

Here are some ideas:

  • Ask about a fall or winter line as even if you’re getting married at a warm time of the year you should still have those available for purchase and you might likely find one that suits your needs.
  • Make the shop aware of your situation. They may be able to do something for you; such as, take a sleeve from another dress and put it to the one you found and make that custom dress so it can fit your requirements of modesty.
  • Two words, shop vintage. The vintage dresses are almost always going to have a full sleeve with some amazing beading and lace work. You could not only find exactly what you’re looking for but do so at a much lower price point.
  • As odd as it may sound check out the Mormon sites. They have amazing craftsmanship and you can maintain the modesty and add a splash of the modern.
