Nutrients: The Key to Life

Nutrition | December 8th, 2009

When we talk about health and diets we need to understand that the very life that we are living is sustained by the food that we take. There is a lot of importance to the food that we eat and its quality. Nutrients are the most important factors here. They are the constituents of food. The nutrients are absorbed by the cells for the process of cellular respiration. Without proper cellular respiration, proper metabolism does not happen. Metabolism is directly associated with the production of energy. If the right amounts of energy are not produced then we are unable to live a healthy life. Through this we are able to understand the consequences of eating bad food.

When it comes to good food, a balanced diet is what we should be looking for. A diet should contain all the necessary ingredients in the right amount. Our body structure and the area that we live in decide the type of food that is available to us. This means that the body will adjust to the surroundings it is in. in some places a high energy diet is required due to the cold and the elevation. In some other places a high protein diet is required for better energy conservation. Food and nutrition as we all know are innately interrelated. The proper nutrition is derived from proper food. Hence the need to eat well is very important. The body will not be able to function efficiently if it is deprived of energy. There are other long term problems associated with bad food habits. This is the reason a lot of stress is given to proper food and nutrition at an early age. Children need to be guided towards healthy eating habits. But the trend says that this is not happening in the right amounts. The reason for this is the lack of information. People do not understand the risks involved with dangerous eating habits.

Eating right is not as easy as it sounds. Today we see that the entire system has eroded. There are very few people who lay emphasis on eating right. There are various advantages of eating well. The basal metabolic rate is the rate at which energy is released and absorbed. This is one of the pivotal parameters of the body. A healthy diet will ensure that this is high. Or else a lowered metabolic rate will mean that the body is unable to get the energy that it needs for proper functioning. It is not just the body which is influenced by a healthy diet. The brain requires huge amounts of energy to function well. All this has to come from the food that we consume. The thinking capacity of a person is reduced if he is not eating well. Hence there are multiple problems associated with this factor. To think well and to live healthy a good healthy diet is extremely important. a healthy person will be more successful and better recognised than a weak person.
