I never tried acupuncture, it all sounds too complicated to me plus I don't really trust every acupuncturist can do the job right so I prefer not to risk trying. On the other hand I am a great fan of natural products and healthy nutrition because I believe that that this is the central element for a healthy mind, body and soul.

There are other therapies as well that are extremely effective, namely The Feldenkrais Method of Movement Education. I have information on my blog or you can access info.from the internet. There’s a lot of ifo available. Again, it’s not just physical but mind-body-spirit. It’s really life altering once you understand the concept and practice it. Good luck!

I wonder how many people don’t have acupuncture because of the needles. A good practitioner is artful with the needles.

Acupuncture is the next thing I plan to try to heal my back. I had someone try acupressure on me and except for chiropractic care, it’s the thing that has worked the most. It’s amazing that it can be used for plastic surgery as well.

After years of working in health care, I became a strong supporter of integrative medicine and treating the whole person. My company, La Dolce Vita Retreats, bases its programs on the concept of mind-body-spirit wellness as all are very related to the final outcome of wellness. Yoga, tai-chi,etc. Overwhelmingly, though, throughout my exploration of various integrative modalities, I have discovered the MANY benefits of acupuncture. Research at UC Irvine, where I was employed, has established a direct correlation of the use of acupuncture to the significant reduction of hypertension. It also reduces inflammation, as you have experienced, but is extremely efficient in reducing inflammation from auto-immune disorders as well. At UCI and the Samueli Center for Integrative Medicine we use it to treat oncology patients before and after treatments to reduce pain, nausea, anxiety and depression. It is such a marvelous treatment and has been used for over 2000 years. Too bad more people aren’t aware.

A professional colleague suggested that I see her acupuncture when I complained about insomnia from working too much! The obvious solution would be to work less but that was not going to happen anytime soon.

As a nurse, I hate needles. They make me feel uncomfortable. Yes, I know…it is an oxymoron. Therefore, going to someone who was going to stick needles inside of me seemed like a really bad idea but I listened to my friend. Although the first experience was full of anxiety, I quickly became aware of the benefits of the treatment.

My weekly appointments were as valuable as my yoga class while I was trying to survive corporate America. I HIGHLY recommend everyone to take that first step towards making an appointment with an acupuncturist. It is wonderful!
