Maternity Wedding Dresses, Buying a Maternity Dress for Your Bridesmaid

Looking for a maternity wedding dress for your bridesmaid brings a lot of considerations and sometimes fears. Almost every bride has dreamed of their perfect day from the arrangements, to the ceremony, to how their bridesmaids are going to look on their special day.

When it comes to having a pregnant bridesmaid it can start to alter that perfect perception a bride has of her wedding. One of the first thoughts to come into mind might be to ask that bridesmaid to drop out of the wedding. Instead of thinking of asking them to drop out of your wedding or having fears of what you should do there are some tips to help you fit the pregnant bridesmaid and still have the wedding you wanted.

  1. Take into consideration having an empire waist on the dresses for all of your bridesmaids. This is going to both making finding a dress easier but most likely make the bridesmaid feel even that much more comfortable as well.
  2. Figure out how many months along the bridesmaid will be when your wedding day comes. If she is going to be right around or under four months it’s likely that she’ll be able to simply fit into a larger version of the same dress you already were considering. Only if she is about five months on should the exploration of other options really need to come into play.
  3. When you are looking at dresses ask about a maternity in that style. You’ll find that sometimes you can get the same dress but just in a maternity version. Not all dresses will come like this but you have nothing to lose by asking.
  4. If there isn’t a maternity version you can always look for a dress that is as close to the other dresses as possible. Usually you can match up fairly well. Have the shop help you out with that as they have gone through these things before.
  5. If all else fails you can buy fabric and have a dress made for her so all of the dresses will be alike and your wedding will go off as planned.
