5 Things to Have in Your Makeup Bag

My Amazing Friend, Andrea Rathborne, is a make-up artist in the truest sense: she finds beauty everywhere and brings it forth. I asked her to share her tips.

WHAT EVERY MAKE-UP BAG SHOULD HAVE:

# 1 a good concealer. This will take you from nearly-dead to deadly in 2 seconds. A gentle application under eyes and on lids feigns the appearance of a decent night’s sleep.

#2 a powder blush/bronzer can be used for cheeks, bridge of the nose, forehead and chin. (Andrea’s bonus tip: apply to cleavage for..ahem, drama.)

#3 A medium/rich brown eyeliner pencil. If applied carefully and with a deft hand, this can fill in brows. For impact, a sweep along the lower, inside rim or a gentle application along the upper lash line followed by a smudge creates a striking, yet subtle look.

#4 A subtle but classy lipstick. Andrea’s personal favourite is MAC Viva Glam V because it takes you through any type of event and she uses it on cheeks for a dewy, flush that “makes you look 12 again…”

#5 GOOD tweezers. Don’t scrimp on the tweezers. Buy the ones that will remove even the tiniest, annoying hair. “Cleaning up your eyebrows can make all the difference in the world.”
