Love Notes: The Art of Romance

You want to connect with the person you love, right? Of course. Sure, you could tell that person how you feel, but a more creative way to share your thoughts is through unspoken communication. Love notes are a simple and meaningful way to bring romance to your relationship. You don’t have to be a poet who sends elaborate letters telling a lover how beautiful she is or how wonderful his accomplishments are–a note can be so much simpler than that.
A Pick-Me-Up
A love note can be as easy as a lipstick kiss on the bathroom mirror with an “I love you” scribbled beside it, a sticky note with a few special words, or even a text message. If you doubt that a text message could ever be romantic, I can assure you there is nothing better for boosting my mood during the day than receiving virtual roses or a short message on my phone that says my honey is thinking of me.
To show him I’m thinking of him, too, I’ve cut out hearts from construction paper and written messages inspired by candy hearts from Valentine’s Day. I’m yours. You’re my fantasy. #1 lover. Then I tucked them in pockets, in his briefcase, in his lunch bag, or attached to his keychain for him to find throughout the day.
Show Your Appreciation
Unspoken communication isn’t hard. It just requires you to focus on your appreciation for your special person and the reasons why you fell in love and remain committed. Trust me on this–you don’t have to be perfect with words. Simply making the effort will tell someone that you care.
For an extra-special touch, write a simple poem just for the person you love on the back of a photo or on the back of a saved front cover of a greeting card. The easiest type of poetry to write doesn’t even have to rhyme and can be based on a typical vow of love. Make the poem five lines long. For each themed line, fill in your own feelings or thoughts that are unique to your relationship.
Line 1 – What led me to you
Line 2 – My feelings for you
Line 3 – How you make me feel
Line 4 – How I envision our future or our life together
Line 5 – My commitment to you
Here’s an example:
On the day we met, I wasn’t searching for love
You are the hero I wish I had written
You wanted me, and I wanted you
You are my beginning, middle, and end
I promise to always cheer for you and not to worry about unknown possibilities.
Love notes are a way to show your commitment and feelings, even at times when you aren’t anywhere near your partner. Even those of who are very busy can take a few moments to write a quick love note. Make sure to let the person you love know how special he or she is to you. At the very least, thank your lover for choosing you.
