Life Insurance Test, Preparing For Your Health Examination
A life insurance test is nothing to be afraid of. This isn’t to say that the medical exam can’t be a nerve racking experience.
Almost all of the exams will be done within 20-30 minutes at the most. If you’re someone that suffers from a nervous condition or are under a great deal of stress this is something that might seem endless if you don’t know what to expect or how to go about it. We’ll try to eliminate some of that anxiety through the following text.
Inclusions
You’re going to be monitored for the following things:
- Blood pressure rate
- Plus rate
- Height measurement
- Weight measurement
- Urine specimen
- Blood specimen
Sometimes there will be the use of a treadmill or another type of a non stress inducing EKG. In order to get the best results it’s good to prepare yourself beforehand.
Preparation
In order to prepare there are some simple things that you can do to make your life and your stress a lot easier.
- Call your insurance broker and he/she will setup your examination. They’ll pass your information along and you’ll be called to verify an appointment time
- You should try to get your appointment scheduled during a period of the day that you’re going to be relaxed. You should also make sure you schedule your appointment around 72 hours in advance
- For 8 hours until your blood is drawn you’ll want to make sure that you don’t consume any food and make sure that you get enough rest the night before
- You should make sure to drink at least 2, 8 ounce, glasses of water before you go into your exam and make sure that you don’t exercise the day of your appointment
- Don’t drink any caffeine for 24-48 hours before you’re exam and make sure that you avoid any alcohol for the same time period. The problem is that caffeine is something that promotes an irregular heart rate/blood pressure/plus rate and will throw off the true results of your testing
- Make sure that you list all of the medications that you’re taking, even the over the counter medications and make sure that you’re completely open and honest about your medical history
Though things can be nerve racking and make you a little apprehensive remain calm and relaxed as much as possible. This isn’t something that’s meant to be painful; it’s simply something for the insurance company to gain an idea of your overall true health. As long as you’re open and honest with the person doing your exam there is nothing to worry about.
