A life insurance brokerage or life insurance agency or firm is a great place to work right now if you want to become a life insurance broker which is sometimes clumped with a life insurance agent.

A life insurance broker and agent do the same essential job; however, the broker works for a company that is able to quote from many different insurance companies while the agent is working for an insurance company and only able to sell their products.

In addition to the many types of insurance policies the insurance broker can and does often sell annuities, mutual funds and securities.

There are 3 simple things that you can do to figure out a little about what it takes to get on the path to becoming an insurance broker:

1. Talk to Current Agents – Talk to a lot of the different types of insurance agents so you can figure out what type of insurance that you want to sell. As an insurance broker you can get the education to sell many different types of you can have more of a specialty.
2. Internship – Finding an internship while you’re in high school over the summer or while you’re in college is an excellent opportunity as it’s going to let you know what the job is and also give you a step up when you’re done with school and ready to go out into the workforce. Even if you’re out of school and having some problems finding a good career by doing an internship you could get your foot in the door and give them a free look at all you have to offer.
3. Get Your License – Getting your license is going to vary by each state but is usually going to require passing levels of exams and getting your license. If you’re hired by an insurance company they will usually provide all of the training you need in order to ensure that you’re able to pass your licensing exam.
