Kickboxing As A Form Of Exercise

Health & Wellness | December 12th, 2009 No comments

Kickboxing is the latest form of exercise that is catching on all over the world. Kickboxing classes are mushrooming all over the major cities.

Kickboxing as a form of exercise is called aerobic kickboxing. This happens to be one of the more popular forms of all aerobic exercises. Kickboxing is proven to be highly beneficial for good health and it is a lot of fun to attend kickboxing classes. It is an esoteric mix of the many elements of boxing and martial arts, which align with the principles of aerobics. Aerobic kickboxing is sometimes referred to as  ’boxing aerobics’ and also ‘cardio boxing’. This is because it includes a large variety of kicks and punches, along with knee strikes and self defense moves. The exercise routine is especially beneficial for women, as it is a fantastic self defense technique. Along with being a good exercise for self defense, it also helps in loosing extra weight at a very fast pace. This can help one attain a target goal of a very beautiful and toned body shape. Kickboxing classes are usually 30 minutes long.

Kick boxing classes or sessions have many advantages:

  • Aerobic kickboxing exercises can be done in a relaxing and comfortable atmosphere. It can be done anywhere and wherever one feels most comfortable.
  • One’s own pace can be set and favorite background music can be played for even more relaxation and fun. The music makes the high energy activity more enhanced and interesting.
  • Warm ups and stretches are always done prior to the start of an exercise session at kick boxing classes. This helps to avoid injury and ensures that the body is comfortable and very supple. Performing many warm up exercises and lots of stretching for about ten minutes ensures that the muscles are stretched and ready for the high energy moves before the start of cardio boxing. It must always be the first step at the start of the exercise.
  • Kicking and punching during the session teaches one a lot about self defense. These moves can be replicated at a time when somebody is under threat and without any help at hand. To be able to learn a self defense technique and also stay in shape is a great motivating factor to take up kickboxing as a serious form of exercise.
  • The exercise session ends with cooling down of the body, to calm it down and slow it down after a vigorous exercise session. After going through the stunts and the vigorous moves of kickboxing, cooling down the body for about five minutes is vital and this ensures the end of a perfect session.
  • At the climax of every kickboxing aerobics exercise session, one feels more energetic and active to take on one’s your daily chores.
  • The endorphins released during these sessions give a kick and boost to the body and one is prepared to face every challenge that life can throw at it.
