What do you love about where you live and why? What kinds of things do you collect/surround yourself with and why?
I love the surroundings, the mountains, the trees, the little lake and woods we back onto: filled with birds and dragonflies. I like to surround myself with unique objects made by hand. My space is neutral, white and wood but spotted with hits of colour in the art and design items. Items at home that I covet right now include a ceramic pear by Rae Dunn, a bird’s nest I found abandoned in PEI our last visit, blue and olive-hued Buddha Bowls, and a new painting from Jill Brown.

What looks you admire, what you love about your own wardrobe, what you wish you had more of…what do you like to feel, touch, smell, taste?
I tend to buy fairly classic pieces with a saucy twist. This season I found my favourite things at Banana Republic and from Joe Fresh at Superstore. Cotton shifts with beautiful patterns or artisnal detailing. I am all about dresses this year and flats of every style and colour. I love the feel of chunky polished gemstones and like accessories that include them. Their weight and cool smoothness soothe my soul. Soft, clean smells make me happy…like when you pass by a honeysuckle patch. For fragrances, I like sweet and light…orange blossom, lemongrass, jasmine, gardenia. No chemical fragrances or high end brands for me…they make me ill.

Who, what, types of people and why you love them, a personality trait to which you are drawn and why, a famous person you admire?
I am drawn to spiritual people who emit warmth and honesty or fun people to who get my dry sense of humour. I like intimate relationships and do not do well in large social situations making small talk. I admire Eckart Tolle for his quiet brilliance and Oprah for her endless offering of wisdom and inspiration.

Elements of nature that energize you.
Water energizes me; swimming in a lake or the sea or sitting by a stream or sparkling pond. Leafy trees also bring me great joy. I adore the sound of the lush green leaves blowing in the breeze or the crisp crunch of fallen leaves in autumn.

Favourite Book: Why?
Right now my favourite book would be Eckhart Tolle’s A New Earth. I will be forever grateful for the journey it has started me on this year. It is a book I pick up and read over and over for guidance.

You have $500 to spend on whatever you want. What would it be?
Right now I would spend $500 on a romantic getaway for my husband and me as we’ve been very disconnected lately. I miss him.

What’s the best thing about having your Style Statement?

My Style Statement has helped me find myself; the self hidden under the chaos of life with three boys and working too much because I couldn’t say “no”. Innovative Grace offers a fantastic opportunity for me to design my life, to simplify and de-clutter my days, my closet, my agenda…it has been a true gift.

Innovative:

Spirit:
Consummate entrepreneurs, Innovative is always on the lookout for the next big thing, a breakthrough idea, or an invention. Innovative is forever seeking ways to renew, recharge, and replenish and have a hard time with stagnation and unyieldingness. Perceptive, in-tune, and extraordinarily resourceful, Innovative has a knack for finding and creating opportunities that lead to prosperity in multiple ways. They are connectors, mavens, and enthusiastic and natural networkers who make things happen. But Innovative has a tendency to rush ahead or be dismissive of thoughts and experiences before they have been thoroughly explored. And with so many ideas to pursue, they can take on too much. They have a fascination with eccentric people and certainly have a few of their own quirks and eccentricities. They are unabashedly insatiable and determined. Fabulous cheerleaders and champions, Innovative adores being adored and blossoms with acknowledgement and adulation.

Look & Feel:
Unique, individualized, avant-garde, creative, cutting edge. Can range from high concept and highly stylized to quirky and whimsical. Custom-made and tailored. Typically simple and streamlined.

artistic, avant-garde, clever, contemporary, creative, cutting edge, experimental, far-out, formative, imaginative, ingenious, inventive, leading edge, liberal, new, original, productive, prolific, radical, ready, resourceful, shrewd, stimulating, state-of-the-art, unconventional, visionary

Grace / Graceful / Gracious

Spirit:
Greek mythology tells of sister goddesses of joy, charm, and beauty called the three Graces. Graceful is poised and dignified and, at her best, is a giving, generous spirit who seeks to impart kindness and dignity. Love is her fuel; goodwill is her motivation and guide. Graceful prefers meaning and substance but will practice courtesy and compassion rather than forcing her views about a situation. Graceful has a sense of fit and propriety, a craving for balance and good form and proportion. She adores harmony and material and immaterial luxury—from finery to leisure. Rooted in feminine power, Graceful has a quiet and steady confidence. She endeavors to make everything special in the most considerate and ultimately charming ways, and she tends to make it all look effortless.

Look & Feel:
Adroitness, agility, allure, attractiveness, balance, beauty, cleanliness, ease, elegance. The proper fit and hang. Flow, warmth, comfort, harmony. Shapeliness, smoothness, style, suppleness, symmetry.

attentive, benefaction, blessing, breeding, caritas, charity, compassion, consideration, cultivation, decency, dignity, divinity, etiquette, favor, finesse, finish, forgiveness, form, flow, fluidity, friendly, generosity, goodwill, invocation, kindness, love, lovely, mercy, poise, polish, prayer, propriety, soft, tender, tact, tastefulness, thanksgiving, royalty, warmth
