Investing In Wine Cellar Coolers

Wine | October 21st, 2009 2 Comments

Getting a wine cooler is a refrigeration unit that you can install either under or over your countertop or any other convenient area of the home. They are used for temperature regulation of your wines and make sure they stay under room temperature. If you’re ready or to get started here is some help to get you started with something that will fit your needs.

Considerations

Wine Types
You should first make a list of what types of wine you want to store. Each of the different wines is going to have individual temperatures that are the optimum for storage guidelines and recommendations. White wine and red wines, etc… are going to have differing temperature necessities. If you’re planning on having several types of wines or champagne you’ll want to look for a cooler that is more sophisticated and will offer more than one compartment so you can house all of the different varieties while keeping everything within the one cooler. If you’re only storing one than you can get one that has a varying temperature setting so you can adapt to whichever one you’re storing at that time.

Capacity
Next you’ll want to determine how many bottles you’ll be looking to store. If you’re just starting out the idea would be to look for something around the 12 bottle range if you’re looking to collect; however, they’ll range from just a few up to around twenty-five. They will even go up into the hundreds if you’re an extreme collector.

Type
Finding the right type is going to be one of the other important steps in finding the right option for your cooler. Do you want something that is free standing as well as self-contained or do you prefer something that can fit into a smaller space? Do you want a countertop model or something that will fit under a cabinet?

Before you go shopping you’ll want to make sure you note any specific features you’re going to want to have; such as, stainless steel, energy efficiency, etc…

You’re also going to want to look at any space constraints that you might have and make sure you find something that will fit the width, height and depth of the unit that you need to fit into the space you have. There are units to fit every space you need though all wouldn’t have every feature necessarily.

Budget
When shopping for anything budget usually always has to play a factor within our decision making process. Before you start shopping you should look into what type of a budget you’re looking at. This will allow you to narrow down the selections for you from the outset and while a lot of the special features are cool you can definitely omit them if they aren’t budget friendly.
