Impotence and dealing with it
The dreaded condition of impotence can affect any man at any time. Impotence affects many men from around the world. A vast majority of men suffer from impotence, or a case of a loss of libido. Living in modern times has meant that almost every man at some point in time in his life, has experienced a loss of sex drive and a loss of desire. A decreased libido can hit any man at any time. There is no social or cultural requirement for a decreased libido. The causes for a loss of libido can be many. There are physical and, psychological and emotional reasons, why a man can experience a low libido and eventually suffer from impotence.
An injury to certain parts of a man’s body can lead to a decrease in his levels of libido. An accident that occurred could be responsible for a lack of sex drive.
Stress is the biggest psychological reason for a loss of libido. All kinds of stress and tension can take a toll on a man’s libido. Work stress is usually the culprit here. The rat race and all the pressures that come along with it lead to excessive levels of stress which can destroy a libido.
Medications taken to combat certain illnesses are also responsible for decreased libido. Various illnesses and medical conditions like cancer, hypertension and diabetes lead to a loss of strength and a loss of libido.
Negative emotions like guilt and anxiety cloud the mind and a preoccupied mind makes it very difficult to show any interest in sex. If depression sets in for whatever reason, it can take a very long time for the individual to get over it, and by the time he gets over it, it is usually too late. The dreaded condition of impotence has already set in.
It is important to make a clear demarcation between a flailing sex drive, which is also called a decreased libido, and impotence, which is a full-on medical condition.
A decreased libido is when an individual’s interest in sex starts to decline. He is no longer as interested in sex as he previously was, and has lost his sex drive. Feelings of lust and desire no longer stay in his mind all the time.
Impotence is a serious medical condition. A man is said to be impotent when he cannot get an erection despite stimuli. A man can also be impotent when he gets very weak erections which are not hard enough to be of any use. Erections which do not last for too long also make a man impotent.
The way to deal with impotence is to identify the signs at an early stage and find a cure for it. Staying healthy and cutting down on alcohol, drugs and smoking is a good place to start. Staying healthy and regular exercise keep the body strong and healthy, and have a positive effect on libido.
