How has astrology influenced your life or a decision?

There are many ways to walk one path. Some are guided by the light of their faith, others by science, some look to other ancient traditions and oracles. Today’s question comes from sisters Ophira and Tali Edut, aka, The Astrotwins.

Carrie says: I’m definitely curious about what it means to be a Capricorn - a reading with Ophira was right on for me. I know astrology could be a wonderful guide - but I can never just “dip my toe” into something, I like to know everything I can. So really putting astrology to use is on my “desire list.”

Danielle says: Astrology is part of a set of tools that I use to navigate - along with logic and a collection of theologies. Finding a good astrologer is as tricky and rewarding as finding a great therapist or hair stylist. I consider my astrologer to be part of my Life Advisory Board. I check in with her every year or so. Her perspective throws a light on my most divine abilities and deepest longings, and that clarity helps me to write my script the way I want it to be. I’ve had my husband and son’s charts interpreted and that’s been really helpful in understanding and supporting them.

Tali says: Astrology has helped me understand why I feel things so intensely (I have 5 planets in Scorpio.) Before I learned about astrology I thought there was something wrong with being that sensitive to the world. Now, I embrace it and use it to tune into people’s depths and connect from that rich place.

Ophi says: It’s simplified my life, because I know what’s coming down the pike and can plan for it. It also helps me brilliantly navigate personal dynamics, be sensitive to everyone’s hot buttons, and find the gold in each person.

I am not sure what it means to be an Aquarian? And while I AM interested, there's so many confusing websites and confiticing magazine monthlies ... does anyone know a great website that explains it all simply?

A Libra here - I have several books that I have read about Libras in general, but I have never had a reading specific to me. I like knowing what makes me tick and I have learned a lot just from the "general" astrology information out there. I also learned about my husband and the possible conflicts that we could have -- and I have learned how to diffuse those conflicts before they get too big. Of course I didn't marry a sign compatible with mine, but knowing this ahead of time has really helped a lot and we have become compatible.

I find astrology fascinating, not least because it's been affecting people since the Bronze Age, longer than most world religions. Opening myself to my Libra tendencies has helped me deal with my personality - such as my intense need for balance, my hyper-sensitive nose, my choice to live abroad and my rare lashings of anger when things aren't fair, to name a few. Learning more about my rising sign and Chinese astrology sign (Ox, for me, which often contradicts Libra) has also helped in my self-assessment. Learning the signs of others can help to explain conflict, work ethics and ambition, and can help in relationship-building. A bit of info about astrology: It is supposed to help people understand themselves and what their future holds in regard to their birth date and the position of the celestial elements.

It is commonly believed to have originated in Babylon, though many other places practiced around the same time. Babylon suffered a nasty and completely unexpected takeover in 539.

Sir Isaac Newton and French psychologist Michel Gauquelin have conducted interesting experiments with astrology.

Not trying to rain on anyone's parade here but I have never been influenced by astrology. Doesn't it take away from our humanity to think we are being guided by or we are the way we are because of
giant components controlled by gravity and just doing their job?

I plot my course, I control my future, I am responsible. I do not leave these important elements of what make me human up to inarticulate balls of matter who cannot understand my feelings or thoughts, who cannot feel love or care about me.

Not really. I can relate to everything I've read about Aries (along with every other sign!). But as a Christian, I rely on Spiritual guidance when making life decisions.

Cancers are caring, compassionate, and take things to heart. They can also be really moody and sensitive. I'm not sure if I have subconsciously taken cancerian aspects and incorporated them into my character, or if they were there to begin with. Although horoscopes often ring true, they are written in such broad generalizations that it is difficult to take them with anything greater than a grain of salt (at least from magazines or newspapers).

Alternatively, I have a deck of tarot cards that help me reconnect with the wisdom of the universe (and myself). Each card represents a parable emerging from a wide number of sources; there are stories about Jesus and great Sufi masters,while others stem from the Tao, Zen Buddhism, and other wisdom traditions. While this deck can be used to do regular tarot readings, providing insight into relationships or situations, I like to select one card each morning and read the parable that accompanies it. I find that it brings a fresh outlook to each day, keeping me grounded and open to whatever experiences the day has to offer me.

Ever since I was a little girl I was fascinated with astrology. Up until now, I've used it more to gain a deeper understanding of my self than to plot my path. Knowing that I'm a Sag (fiery, lively, optimistic, impulsive, a seeker) with heavy Virgo influence (meticulous, detail-oriented, perfectionist) helped me understand and embrace my contradictions.
On the journey, I think of looking to astrology very much like checking the weather forecast. There are some days that are better for sailing than others, both on the water and in our lives.

I completely agree with A.D. - it is totally illogical to believe that the premises on which astrology is based have anything to do with our day-to-day lives - nature/nurture has a much greater influence, as well as time and unforseen occurence. I would go a step further and say that involvement in such things as astrology and seers can even be dangerous if you look into the spiritistic background of each and find out where the influences are actually coming from.

Astrology has helped me to understand myself better. However, the only astrologer I consult is the one in the daily newspaper! This, of course, leaves much to be desired and is seldom 'on'.

I have read a lot about my Sun sign - Sagittarian - Moon sign - Capricorn - and Rising - Aquarius. I AM Fire like my Sun - a homebody like the Capricorn - the Earth. I'm not sure how I'm affected by Aquarius.

I do not use Astrology to make decisions.

Emily, I, too, like Tarot. I have a friend who is a Sensitive and she will often do a reading for me over the telephone. She lives in Florida. I live in Ontario! My Tarot cards are Goddess cards.

I like the idea of choosing one card each day and thinking on that. Presently I'm using The Four Agreement cards. I will consider using my Tarot, too, or later.

When I read more about what it means to be an Aries, it made so much sense as to who I was and why I reacted to things a certain way.
I haven't looked into it too much, but I usually pay attention to when Mercury's in retrograde and prepare for communication blunders.

Ever since I was a little girl and first read Linda Goodman's Sun Signs, I have been hooked on astrology. I am a Scorpio- always aspiring to be the eagle type and not the grey lizard or scorpion varieties. Astrology, in applying it to my personal relationships, has always added a layer of richness and texture to the people in my life, and I really like to solve the puzzles of people. There have been many times in my life where I have realized certain truths about people that spring from the knowledge of their sign.
