How Environment Issues are influenced by Human Actions

Going Green, Inspiration, Living Green | January 16th, 2010 No comments

The different eco systems in operation on the planet demand that human life be intricately interlinked with ecology. However, this is a concept that is still unclear to many people. Until people fully understand what this means, then thee will continue to be countless environment issues whose solutions we cannot seem to get.

The starting point should be an understanding of how eco systems work. Basically, they are a source of natural resources, which are necessary for human life existence. That is the greatest connection there is between humans and eco-systems. It goes then that when eco-systems do not produce the necessary resources, human existence will be affected in one way or another. Once we understand this concept, the need to protect ecology then becomes clear.

Granted, wanton human misuse of resources has already led to numerous. Thank goodness there are insightful people among us who have been studying the co-existence for years and who are constantly reminding us of how differently things ought to be done. Because of this efforts being put to balance human action and eco-system response, sustainable solutions are found with every new research conducted. The search for a green environment however, does not come easy.

How Certain Actions Affect the Environment

The most common environmental abuse is in misuse of resources. Water and energy are the most misused natural resources. People spent these resources without coming up with ways of ensuring that the resources keep regenerating. As the population grows higher, the need to minimize on use of natural resources should also increase. Sadly though, this is far from the reality. Advancement in technology means that manufacturing processes require more energy. Most of these processes use tons of water too. Add that to the daily demand placed on water by families for hygienic and cooking purposes and what you have is a crisis.

In a bid to try and substitute natural energy with other forms of energy, all sorts of systems are used. Nuclear energy has been produced. While it is a good option for energy provision, the effects it has on the environment are far worse than doing with just a little energy which means less development would be preferable. Green houses are other human incentives that affect the environment badly. They account for more than half of all dangerous gas emissions released to the environment. All the above-mentioned actions cause temperature changes in the globe. They also erode the safe ozone layer, exposing the planet to global warming and exposure to high voltage ultra-violet rays. The health implications of this are quite high.

So what sustainable solutions are available for these issues? The first is conservation of the environment. This includes natural water points, natural habitats, forests, soil conservation and use of natural farming methods. Next is using resources conservatively. Instead of relying on electricity for energy, effective power can be harnessed from the sun. Similarly, rain water can be harvested and stored in dams to ensure constant supply of the resource. This way a green environment will be maintained.
