Holiday Wine Gift Basket

Wine | November 6th, 2009 No comments

When it comes to the holiday season one of the easiest gifts can also be a thoughtful one and that is of the gift basket. For the person in your life that enjoys a good bottle of wine making a holiday wine gift basket will be definitely appreciated. You can have the gift basket custom made to the specific likings of the person you’re giving it to.

Working with a retailer to get a custom gift basket is a wonderful idea. Doing this option will allow you to rework it however you want to in order to make sure that all of your loved ones favorite things are in there.

Local or Online

You should decide if you’re going to do something locally or through an online retailer. You’re often able to get some good deals online; however, if budget is a concern you should also take into consideration that there is a shipping cost involved.

One other consideration you should take into account is you often can find more options online then in a local retailer. If you’re not on a huge time constraint it wouldn’t hurt to check out both options. Sometimes placing an online order is preferable since you can have lit delivered and have it be a nice surprise or especially if the person you’re gifting to is out of state it would make a lot more sense to do it that way.

Determine Delivery

You’re going to want to make sure that you do things enough time ahead of the occasion to make sure that it is going to be delivered on time either to them or to you so you’ll be able to give it to them on the day that you wish.

If the gift is going to be for a special occasion; such as, a birthday or a holiday you’re going to want to do some pre-planning to make sure it’s going to be on time or earlier for the event. You can often rush or next day air a package but if you plan ahead of time you’ll save a fortune in shipping costs.

Consider Your Recipient

With keeping all of this information in mind we can move on to the gift basket itself. You’re going to want to think about the recipient and the occasion you’re giving it for. Also consider your budget should that be of any concern. These things are going to help you in narrowing down some choices immediately. There are a wide variety of things that will fit to either any budget and/or any occasion.

You’ll want to consider the recipients tastes and their style. For instance, are they more apt to prefer a wine with a cheese or with a gourmet fruit? Do they prefer a white wine or a red wine? Others may like a dry wine and some would like a sweet wine. There are others that have really no preference at all which obviously will make them the easiest to shop for. If you’ve been to a party with them or have drank a bottle of wine with them think about what that was and try to keep your basket accordingly. You can ask mutual friends or family to think about wines they have bought or ordered in the past to help you make your decision on what to get.

Other Considerations

If you know of any you’re going to want to pay attention to any allergies that person might have and make sure that you take that into account with all of the contents of the basket you’re ordering. There are some people that can’t have dairy or cheese products so you’ll want to buy a wine and fruit basket for that person instead of a wine and cheese basket.
