Health and Fitness: Two Sides of the Same Coin

Fitness, Health & Wellness, Importance of fitness | December 8th, 2009 No comments

We live in treacherous times. We are at constant risk. There are various problems that one needs to face in this world. If we are not prepared to face them; mentally or physically we will fail miserably. This is a fact. The very concept of survival of the fittest is enough reason to validate this claim. Health is an asset everyone is blessed with. Sometimes there can be problems which are unavoidable. But most of the times, the health problems that we see around us are totally avoidable. This has lead us to make our lives better. Health standards will increase only if we are fit and trim. Hence health and fitness go hand in hand. A healthy person will most definitely have a fitness program that he follows. A person who is dedicated to himself will follow fitness rules.   Fitness is not an easy goal. There are way too many hindrances in this day and age.

The results of leading an inactive and sedentary lifestyle have taken a tool on us. We are not able to get out of this stupor without a knee jerk reaction. Only when we find ourselves critically ill do we do something about it. Hence the best way to avoid any problems is to get into the fitness set of mind as soon as possible, as it is said; it is never too late to start anything. Hence fitness needs to be taken seriously. Today in fitness centres all over we see that there is a high percentage of people who are there because they are forced to be there. They may either be there due to peer pressure or they are suffering from an illness which requires the reduction in weight. This is a sad state of affairs. One needs to understand that they would not have been there in the first place if they have dedicated even a fraction of the time they are doing now to fitness. This why it is always advised to take up fitness at an early age. Parents can introduce an active lifestyle in their children. The government does its part by introducing games and physical activities in the school curriculum. This should be encouraged whole heartedly.

Fitness centres do offer the active lifestyle on a plate. But it is not totally essential to visit them. We can do the necessary changes by ourselves. A half an hour of walking on a daily basis will do wonders to the body as well as many physiological functions. Running is even better. All this can be done on our own time. The only thing we need to keep in mind is the need to be regular. If we are not, we are putting only ourselves at risk. This thought should always be there on the back of our minds. A good sports club is also an option. Young people can opt for a sports club to play games and indulge in such other activities. All these are beneficial to the body.
