How do you perceive wellness? Do you understand the implications of wellness? Most people think that it means to be physically fit or healthy. But actually, wellness covers a wide spectrum of requirements. This is because wellness is all about being well, mentally and physically, in all aspects of life. It involves being free of disease, achieving calmness of mind, eliminating stress in one’s daily life, and living in an environment that is conducive to all of these factors.

Hence, wellness calls for major changes in lifestyle, paying attention to exercise and diet, and working on oneself mentally, to facilitate inner healing. If you can plan your life in a disciplined manner, maintaining regular workouts, eating healthy food, sleeping enough and avoiding any excesses, you can be assured of being in a state of wellness.

Wellness has become an important concept in today’s stress filled world. Most people strive to attain a level of wellness that will help them cope with the vagaries of modern day living, especially in urban areas. Since we live in an environment full of pollution, toxic food and hectic schedules, most of us feel the strain of coping at an early age.

Most people living in cities feel frequently tired and rundown; stressed and tensed up; physically stiff and uncomfortable; and riddled with disease. These factors seem to have become a part of our daily lives and we tend to ignore them, thinking that if we pretend they’re not there, they’ll eventually go away. Unfortunately, they don’t.

So how do we go about ensuring high levels of wellness in our lives? For one thing, we need to analyze our lives and see where we’re going wrong. Are we eating food that is organically grown or food that is full of toxic chemicals? Do we lead sedentary lives or do we get enough exercise and activity? Are we in high pressure jobs that involve travelling and irregular mealtimes? Do we lead highly competitive lives, always trying to beat someone else to the punch? Maybe we’re burning the candle at both ends with partying, not getting sufficient sleep or rest?

The best way to combat all these negative factors and reach high levels of wellness is to undergo holistic treatment. This can involve a wide range of treatments, including yoga, meditation, Reiki, Pranic Healing, Aroma therapy, Ayurveda, Homeopathy, Chakra healing, and so much more. A combination of these therapies can ensure healing at various levels, mentally, physically and spiritually.

A holistic treatment is best prescribed by a qualified practitioner who can heal every aspect of your life. You will need to identify a healer who will understand your lifestyle, and its limitations. A good healer will take various factors into consideration and recommend a regimen for you that you can adhere to. You may be advised to sleep early, eat healthy food, wake up early and meditate, practice yoga religiously, and generally be more disciplined. If you maintain this lifestyle, you will soon find yourself attaining a great deal of wellness in your life.
