Forward motion.
A while back I went swimming. It was an outdoor pool and the weather was rainy and cold. I started to waver. Maybe I’ll go tomorrow instead. But then I asked myself, What do I want to accomplish? I’m not a very good swimmer, but I’m training for my first triathlon. Yesterday I swam half a mile, the furthest I’ve ever swum. I will go again.

What do you want to accomplish today, this week, in your life? Every accomplishment is a piece of gold in your treasure chest. Accomplishment is the currency of fulfillment.
THIS WEEK: Ask yourself, “What does accomplishment feel like to me?” Close your eyes and feel it. Does it feel like cheerfulness, victory, deep peace? And now, with that feeling in heart and mind, set out to accomplish something this week in an area of your life that’s not working for you – even if you only take a small step. Perhaps you can take a walk. Write a note to an estranged friend. Eat fruit instead of sweets for a week. Make one meaningful phone call.
Perfection, finesse, the right moment – forget them all. Even the smallest accomplishment is forward motion, and forward motion can lead to mighty momentum.
