I am not bilingual but my husband is. I was wondering if anyone has had a similar experience when you get together with friends/family who speak my husbands native language (which I do not). I end up sitting mute while everyone just talks in the native language over me (even those who speak English fairly well). My husband will try to do some translating but soon gets lost in the conversation. I end up just sitting there understanding nothing. Does anyone have a similar situation or advice on this. It can be quite isolating and causes lots of conflict. (Please don't recommend learning his language-it's a dialect that is not taught in schools)
