Financial Help for Women, Having a Baby as a Single Mother
Having a child is one of the events that aren’t only a happy time but one of those times that makes single moms wonder where the money is going to come from and a lot of them have to turn for financial help, possibly for the very first time.
When it comes to financial planning it is something that is important at every stage of your life but when it comes to having a baby, especially as a single mother, it becomes something that is paramount. The following is some financial advice that will help you as a single mother getting your financial house in order before having your child.
The first thing that you need to work out is how you’re going to handle work after your baby is born. You’ll want to consider being a stay at home mom. Although you’re probably thinking this is impossible you need to also consider the cost of working. You’re going to have gas, additional car wear and tear, work clothing, daycare, etc… if you find that in spite of all of this you still need to work out of the home than you’re going to have to plan for the costs that come with it. There are options for working from home. Here at Carrie and Danielle there are a lot of articles about things to work from home, you should start here
When you’re planning for the new baby you’re also going to want to make sure that you’re planning for all of the big purchases that you’re going to have to make. Some of the large pieces you’re going to have to think about are the following:
• Stroller
• Crib
• Car seat
• Other equipment
You need to make sure that you’re purchasing products that are very safe, but at the same time you need to make sure that you avoid the temptations to buy the most expensive and classy item. These might not always be the safest and you can always find cheaper alternatives much like buying the generic version of a product at the grocery store. Just check the product and consumer reviews and you’ll be satisfied with the choices you are making.
Finally, you want to make sure that you’re financial plan includes some additional living expenses that you’re new child is going to bring. Even if you decide that you want to breastfeed your child you’ll want to make sure that you prepare for the eventuality that you’re going to have to buy food before your child reaches a year of age.
You’re also going to want to plan on the clothes that your child is going to need. Also you’re going to need to keep your home a little warmer so you’ll want to allot for a little more on your utility bill.
Now that you have a little better idea on what you’re expenses are going to be it’s time to make a budget that’s going to work for you for when your baby comes. Once your finances are in order you’re going to be ready and enjoy parenthood that much more.
