Feel like doing something incredibly useful (easy) and meaningful today?

I’m in rural Quebec this week. Rain pouring on the grey lake, I settled in with my Green Tea to the latest newsletter from Women For Women International:
Today was a day of hopeful beginnings and joyful celebrations. We traveled 90 minutes outside of Kigali to Kayonza, Rwanda. There, we met with more than 250 women as they waited, in the sun and in the rain, to be enrolled in our program, eager for their chance to rebuild their lives.
I first learned about WfW in O Magazine. The more I learn about WfW, the deeper my intention to support their useful, life-affirming, endeavors. WfW helps women in war-torn countries rebuild their lives. Congolese rape victims, Afghani, Iraqi, Kosovoan mothers who have lost their children to war. Their guiding paradigm is that the wellness of women is crucial to healing and sustaining societies. Yes! Women are the spine of the social infrastructure, and economic resources and political will need to empower them to guide and carry their cultures –- as women so naturally do.

WfW interviewed me last week about Carrie & Danielle Inc.’s support of WfW. Why did we choose them? While we intend to extend our philanthropy in a variety of directions, we were looking to support women, in crisis, on an international basis. WfW’s sophistication so obviously translates into healing and regeneration that it’s an honor to support them. Truly.

$100 from every Style Statement session goes to their Stronger Women Fund, and I personally sponsor a WfW “sister” every month for a mere $27 – that $27 bucks puts her through a weekly program for skill building and emotional support. My WfW sister was a mother of 5 in Kosova, and she has just graduated from the program. She is too poor to afford healthcare for her ill kids, but she says she has the confidence and new skills to find employment. This week, I received a photo of my new sister, Selvje, also from Kosova.

If you’re reading this, you likely have the means to give. Women on the other side of the world are lining up to hear from women like us.

Please, look into it: http://www.womenforwomen.org/

With Love,

Danielle
