How do you apply your Style Statement to your life?

Lyle: It’s always in my mind when I’m designing…I’m thinking about being true to my Style Statement…same thing with interviews, when they ask questions, I reflect on how I’m going to respond in a way that’s true to my Style Statement.
Raymond: After having a style consultation with Danielle, I’m not so afraid to look at the traditional side of my design. I realize that there is so much beauty in tradition….As a designer I get asked all the time what my “style” is and now I don’t ho-hum any more…I’m able to say Traditional Constructive.

How does your Style Statement work in your partnership?

Every piece that we design now we ask, What’s the Cultivated Story…where’s the Traditional Constructive. Every piece of clothing is a reflection of combining our styles. It also helps in the editing process when deciding what pieces make the cut. It keeps us grounded in our aesthetic and adds focus!

Inspiration

Lyle: Cirque du Soleil! It is one of my favourite things in the world. It is so amazing to see what the creative mind can achieve.
Raymond: I am inspired by the world around me. Tom Ford for Gucci, Galiano, Lagerfeld, Lyle’s use of color, Anne Rice, science fiction. Dreaming about what the future could be.

How to you interpret your first and second words?

Lyle: Cultivated means to me – Creating your own evolution to further the growth of what’s happening around you. Story means to me – The creative, underlying story that needs to be present in all I do.
Raymond:Timeless means to me: Never ending. Always there. Constructive means to me: Building.
