Dr Oz Loves Porridge! How to Be Energetic and Regular.

Beauty, Body | September 27th, 2008

Are you thinking “I’m too busy to eat in the morning

Breakfast is the most important meal of the day, it’s the gas in your tank. When you miss a meal your body goes into “starvation mode” the body’s natural response is to conserve calories and store any food eaten as fat. Eating breakfast is one of the best ways to stir up your metabolism, have more energy and feel better. My breakfast of choice is porridge, Steel-Cut Oats, which are freshly milled from high protein oats and my favorite is from Bob’s Red Mill.

To maximize my time, on Monday mornings I make a big pot of porridge, takes about 20 minutes. It cooks while I am getting ready and I make enough to last the week. Store in the pot, (save time here too) I add milk, berries, brown sugar and yogurt, I’m good til lunch. And I am in good company Dr. Oz says,

“Steel cut oatmeal doesn’t have a lot of calories, and it drags the food you eat along so it can’t become like putty—until it gets to the very end, Whole grains are an insoluble fiber, so it pulls water with it and it binds to all the other stuff you’re eating that may not be so good for you. It gets the whole bolus moving on.”

Works for me I am nourishing my body and supporting a company dedicated to producing natural foods in a natural way.
