What are all those "meet in church" or Jewish weddings or Muslim weddings if not arranged by families who want their son and daughter to marry somebody Christian, white, Jewish, Muslim, Egyptian, etc. What about when friends set up their friends? It's not like in 21st century India, parents MAKE their kids marry somebody. They check up, they introduce, they make a miserable process (dating and speed dating) bearable. Please, let's be something more than a frog in a well when discussing the pervasiveness of this process. It’s funny how Indians are always associated with arranged marriages.
