In order to properly store your wine collection you’re going to need to take into consideration how you’re going to insulate it and make sure you keep things at the right humidity and temperature in order to store your wine effectively. You’re going to also want to make sure of how you’re wine rack is going to fit in with your décor and will express what it is you want to express with your wine.

Should you simply not know what one you want to buy or you’re on a tight budget then you should consider just building one for yourself. You can get a nice one to fit your needs with only having to pay for the supplies.

Building Your Own Wine Rack

When you make the decision to go ahead and build your own wine rack there are some things that you need to be sure to keep in mind. First, you’re going to want to make sure that the room that you’re putting it in is one that is properly insulated and that you have the right levels of humidity.

You’re going to want to make sure that you have 4-6 inches between the bottles slots as that your bottles are going to need even breathing room. You should also consider building it with a darker material if you’re going to have it sitting out so you can still add a little touch of elegance.

Make sure that you do your build so that the wine bottles are going to lay angled on their sides. You never want to store a bottle upright. When you store a bottle upright what happens is that the cork doesn’t stay moist and it will eventually allow for oxidation to happen due to the shrinking cork destroying your wine.
