Danielle’s Cosmic Chicks Play List (Volume 1)

Music | September 18th, 2008 4 Comments

. . . . . .

Nothing like some Goddesses with rhythm to remind you where it’s at.

If you click on the music widget above, you’ll be able to hear a sampling of each tune – very cool. (And you can order the whole play list itself, if you like.)

Danielle’s Cosmic Chicks Play List (Volume 1)

  1. MeShell Negedocello, God Shiva (Peace Beyond Passion) A goddess of the highest degree. Sultry bass beats, inspired by Kahlil Gibran…it just doesn’t get mo’ divine.
  2. India Arie, I See the God in You (Acoustic Soul) Conscious soul sistah. She aims to spread love.
  3. Jane Siberry, Temple (When I Was a Boy) Siberry’s finest worshiping. This CD is a a cosmic ritual in and of itself.
  4. Dead Can Dance featuring Lisa Gerrard, Cantara (A Passage In Time) POWER. You’ll want to break out into ecstatic dance and speaking in tongues.
  5. Sarah Harmer, How Deep In The Valley (I Am A Mountain) A fine cover of an old spiritual.
  6. Alanis Morissette, Incomplete (Flavors of Entanglement) Wisdom to relate to and be relieved by.
  7. Alison Krauss, Down To The River to Pray (Down To The River to Pray) Made popular by the O’ Brother Where Art Thou? soundtrack. Krauss is the best in her league.
  8. Sheila Chandra, Ever So Lonely/Eyes/Ocean (Weaving My Ancestors’ Voices) This song was my wedding march. For me, it is the ultimate song of fulfilled longing. “The ocean refuses no river.”
  9. Sarah McLachlin, Ordinary Miracle (Rarities and B Sides) Angelic charm from Sarah’s 2008 release.
  10. Lauryn Hill, Tell Him (The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill) Devotional hip hop for the mainstream.
  11. Paula Cole, Amen (Amen) Cole kicks some holistic ass.
  12. MeShell Negedocello, Ecclesiasteses: Free My Heart (Peace Beyond Passion) A prayer to funk. Just get the whole album and swoon to the cosmos.
  13. Joni Mitchell, The Circle Game (Hits) The poetry of how life really works.
  14. Sarah McLachlin, Angel (Surfacing) McLachlin at her most ethereal.
  15. Eva Cassidy, People Get Ready (Songbird) God is calling you – and Eva Cassidy (one of the greatest female vocalists) wants you to know it.
  16. Sinead O’Connor, Thank You For Hearing Me (Universal Mother) So tender it’s heartbreaking.

…to be continued.

Let me know your favourite Cosmic chanteuses and I’ll spread the music love into a new play list.
