Core Areas Mostly Affected by Sustainability Policy
A policy effected with the present and future in mind can be called a sustainability policy. It is not uncommon to find a policy that focuses on the present day needs and concerns of the community, but a sustainable one will be developed with a consideration to the different facets that are likely to be affected rather than only focusing on the palpable element. There are different areas of life where sustainability is applicable, which include energy, agriculture, environment, and development.
Development
For example, a sustainable urban development normally focuses on the different ways to meet the immediate needs and different demands without risking the ability for individuals to do the same in the not so near future. These aspects of sustainability in particular can be extremely enormous because there are so many types of sustainability developments going on. It can also expect the policy makers to focus outside of their present environments. For example, a dam built in one area can have adverse effects on the lives of people living a far distance from the dam or worse still, on the future generations to come. A sustainable development therefore looks at ways that this will be prevented from happening.
Energy
The same way energy is important to the body so is it to the planet earth. In the global sense of the term, energy will refer to power sources for things like heat and transportation. Every sustainable policy seeks to prevent individuals, businesses, and companies from depleting the available sources of energy. This it does say by imposing rules that a set amount of additives be put on fossil fuel to enlarge the quantities. Another way of ensuring that energy sources are not depleted can be to impose a rule that a certain percentage of energy be manufactured domestically so that the reliability on trade partners can be reduced.
Agriculture
Most likely, a sustainable policy dealing with agriculture will mainly focus on the security of food. This is basically one of the most crucial sustainability issues a government has to address. A way in which a government raises and obtains food is only thought to be sustainable if it allows the government in question to secure food without preventing others to do the same. Sustainability policies on agricultural sustainability can also regulate how the land is used to avoid depleting soil resources, and at times, the policies will put regulations that will prevent exportation of agricultural products in the event there will be a domestic shortage of the same.
Environment
Sustainability issues dealing with the environment mostly tend to emphasize on keeping the earth in a state that is livable and will still be livable in future. Sustainability issues of the environment will include issues on pollution e.g. limiting greenhouse gasses and the contamination of water. The sustainability policies in this case can also limit the rate of consumption of natural resources.
In a nutshell, sustainability policies can also be developed to not only facilitate sustainable urban development but also make living in the those areas sustainable in it’s own right.
