Christmas Wine Gift Basket

Money, Wine | November 6th, 2009 No comments

When you’re trying to find a gift for someone that is a wine lover it can be a very daunting task; especially if you don’t know much about wines. To make it even harder there is so much that you can choose from which makes narrowing things down seem to be next to impossible.

In order to make it work though all you need is some simple things to narrow down your choices and pick out that perfect wine gift. Even if the person you’re giving the gift to have everything they need in terms of wine and accessories there are still some things you can put into the gift basket that they’ll be able to use.

Determine Likes

If you’re not sure you should find out what kind of wine the person you’re giving the gift too wants so you can purchase a bottle accordingly. Most everyone is going to like multiple lines but likely is to have one that is a particular favorite type or specific wine.

If you’re not sure what they like or don’t even have a good idea you should share a glass of wine with them and it’s such a simple way to talk and share some time but you also have an easy end for a surprise gift way to find out.

Types of Wine

The person you’re gifting to may either like a red or a white wine.

A red wine will be like a:

  • Merlot
  • Cabernet Sauvignon
  • Syrah
  • More

A white wine will be like a:

  • Chardonnay
  • Pinot Grigio
  • More

Do Some Research

One other thing you can do is look at some wine reviews and you can see which brands have been rated highly. You can also look at this for wines that have won awards or placed high in competition. You’ll find that some of them are organized by price point. Using all of this information and the information you gathered on the type of wine they like you’ll able to afford. You’ll sure to find something that they will enjoy without having to break your budget.

Consider Wine Accessories and Additions

You should also consider throwing in some accessories to put into the gift basket. Here are some accessory ideas:

  • Carrying cases
  • Corkscrew
  • Engraved Corkscrew
  • Bottle Rack
  • Chillers
  • Aerators
  • Decanters
  • Coasters

If you don’t feel comfortable with any of these options as they may or may not have them all or they don’t fit what you were looking for you should consider adding some of the following alternatives:

  • Crackers
  • Nuts
  • Cheese
  • Cookies

You could add some of these even if you choose another from the above too. Just depends on what your budget is and how much you want to put into it.

There are a lot of baskets that you can buy pre-packaged; however, you can add a personal touch and often save money if you pick some of the things out yourself. If you do spend some time and do some internet searching you can often find some good deals especially at certain times of the year.
