Christmas Gifts for Dad
Besides maybe mom, finding a gift for dad can be one of the hardest ones to buy. What type of a gift is going to make sense for him and what is he really going to like that he doesn’t already have. With that said it’s always best to try to find gifts that make sense for dad. Easier said than done but here are some ideas to get you on the way.
Before You Go Shopping
Make a list of what you think your dad would actually use before you even go shopping or leave the door. Getting something that he’ll actually use will put you way ahead of the game. If your dad is one that never wears a suit or dresses up then a tie would be a waste of your time and money.
If your dad has a lot of gadgets and electronics then a gift that speaks to that would be perfect. You could get a gadget that would make his life easier or something that would at least be something he’d love to play with. You can also look into something like an universal remote so he can operate all of his electronics setup with ease.
Ask Others
Ask some of your family or even his friends if you know them about what your dad does daily if you’re not aware of everything or even for some of their ideas. Others having a little more objectivity or even just in general are likely to come up with other ideas you wouldn’t have even thought of. You’d be surprised about how even asking the neighbor could help. They might have noticed that his drill is getting old or his ladder needs replacing. The main thing to think about is that you never know who might have a great idea of a present for dad until you actually ask them.
Plan Ahead
Planning ahead is one of the best things you can do for no matter who you are buying for. Rushing around at the last minute won’t do anyone any good. Especially when it comes to dads you will often find yourself ordering something from his favorite stores catalog or something special ordered. You’re probably going to want to think of dad first as this is more likely for him. By doing this early you’ll be sure to order in time as well as expand your list of possibilities by not waiting until the last minute.
The “Obvious”
When it comes to dad and a present sometimes it’s the present that isn’t actually wrapped that dad will like the best. When it comes to some dads they have just about every material thing they need so adding something else to the pile really doesn’t do anything good. Sometimes just sharing a nice dinner or doing something he enjoys like putting together a model, watching some games, basically just spending time with him can be greater than any purchase you could have actually made.
