Children’s Wedding Attire

Experts recommend that if you want to include children in the wedding ceremony, it is usually best to have kids aged four and above. The most significant thing to bear in mind is to communicate clearly with your flower girl or ring bearer and their parents about the job you have given to each. Explain what they will wear and what they will need to do. These children need to be relaxed, and there are plenty of choices at children’s stores that are both reasonably priced and can be wearing well after the wedding.

A good idea is having a kid gracious menu at a separate table, along with coloring books and crayons as the centerpiece. You may also want to consider providing childcare in a separate room so the adults can really enjoy themselves. Kids are impulsive; so do have a sense of humor about things. All the practice and preparation in the world does not mean they will perform their roles to perfection, so make sure you are okay with a little deviation from the program.

The ring bearer is typically aged four to eight, and he walks down the aisle just before the flower girl, carrying a pillow with two rings tied to it. You may possibly want to have someone hand him the pillow just before he starts walking, as he could lose the rings if given the pillow too far in advance. A tuxedo is absolutely not a must for the ring bearer, even if it makes him look adorable. Short pants and knee socks, or a suit are both excellent options.

Choosing a flower girl dress can be a cool time for both you and your flower girl. Begin by checking out boutiques that focus in children’s wedding wear. Keep in mind the parents will be paying for the dress, so include them in the decision. Also let them know what kind of shoes she will be wearing.

Little girls like to feel like princesses, so think about a smaller make of your wedding gown. Usually, flower girl dresses are white with full ruffle skirts. Do not forget to find corresponding accents for her hair.

If you are having children in attendance, make sure their parents understand that they should be dressed comfortably. For boys a dress shirt and slacks, with or without a tie is suitable, and for girls, a pretty dress is just right.

If children are significant to you and you would like to include them, do so. Prepare them in advance. Walk them through what they will need to do, even take them to the venue where you are getting married. Make sure the clothing they wear for your day is appropriate and comfortable. Bear in mind, shoes that are too tight or too loose, crinolines close to the skin, ties knotted too tight, make kids prickly. When children are important to you, have them in your bridal party and be prepared for them just to be children.
